Questions on jaded fandom, Eric Young, Chris Benoit, heel/face turns, and wrestling relating to real life, Gargano interview and more from Warrior on TMZ

There isn't too much news to get into for Sunday, but it begins with PWInsider.com's questions. And wouldn't you know it, they bash WWE again. The first question is indeed kind of sad, but not for the reason put out by the asker. I could be reading this wrong, but it certainly sounds like they're just Tivoing WWE, reading the recaps on the net, then not watching. So, they're just relying on the recap and not giving the show a chance on its own merits? That's rather weak in my book. A lot of times things aren't as cut-and-dry as they're made out to be. Things can sound bad from what's written that are actually entertaining. But, you have to actually watch to see whether the recaps are accurate. If they're watching the shows and not enjoying them, that's one thing. But if they're just going off of others' information to determine their enjoyment of the shows, that's disconcerting. Missing out on Punk, Del Rio, Awesome Truth, Sheamus, Christian, Mark Henry, and Zack Ryder among others because of the occasional JR-Cole or Muppets segment isn't worth it in my eyes.

2. He's not a former WWE/WCW guy for one. Seriously though, they just like him more as the goof character (and have for years, predating Hogan and Bischoff). World Elite and The Band didn't work out too well for him, so it looks he's stuck in this role for a while. Heck, it's working for him.

After the break, I look at the rest of the day's questions and news, starting with why WWE looks down on Chris Benoit.

3. Ohhhh boy, this one's not going to go over well. Despite all the other issues at play and Benoit's condition at the time, the fact is that he killed his family and himself. I highly doubt there's any amount of justification that can turn WWE's mind around on their portrayal of him. I don't think he'll ever escape that image. As for the chair shot issue, a lot of that did have to do with concussion research but I don't think it was 100% because of Benoit's case.

4. Generally speaking, mainstream fans want to see heel vs. face matches, or at the very least a big personal issue between two competitors. Remember that promotions are generally booking for Little Jimmy who wants to see heroes defeat villains and not someone looking for something fresh after however many years watching wrestling. I was perfectly fine with Roode's heel turn. I actually prefer him as a heel, and it did make sense: he was frustrated with his loss at BFG (where he was screwed by a bad ref call), which was by far the biggest match of his life. He wanted the World Title so badly that when he saw that beer bottle, he decided it was worth cracking his best friend in the skull to win it. He also attributed Storm's win to him softening up Angle. So yeah, now that he has the title, he's believing his own hype and thinking he's better than Storm.

5. Truth be told there's a lot I've learned that's crossed over, involving what makes successful (and unsuccessful) brands and characters, and things about how copyrights and trademarks work. Oh, and that a lot of people will misinterpret things and some are never satisfied, etc..

DGUSA star Johnny Gargano talked to PWTorch. He's had a number of tryouts for both major organizations, including working WWE Superstars.

Finally, for those interested, here's further clarification from Warrior on his stances. Note that the language here is harsh in places. I posted this out of fairness since I brought up the story earlier. I generally stay out of politics relating to wrestling as a blogger, as I should!

That's all for Sunday's news. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
