NXT thoughts - 5/9/12

On the 5/9 NXT, the mysteries continue with an attacker running amok. Plus, the young stars of WWE are in action. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happened.

I would have thought McGillicutty was the attacker.

Not much of a reaction for the returning performers.

Looking forward to the Divas' match.

Good acting as always by Maxine.

Good wrestling from Maxine, too.

Maxine puts on better matches than some men in WWE.

Solid ending. Maxine's improved drastically since Season 3.

Very interesting look for JTG.

A "Real Man's Man" Steven Regal reference on commentary. Nice.

The fans could not care much less for JTG or Tatsu it sounds like. I think both men could be on the chopping block.

I'm not crazy about pairing JTG with Fox. Neither are doing much of anything, though.

Paul Heyman is such a good promo. He could make a cookbook interesting.

Fine enough backstage segment with everyone. Funny Terra Ryzing reference by Striker.

Also a funny segment with Percy, Bateman, and Kaitlyn. Nice to see the glasses again.

Percy hasn't worn the glasses in forever. Why would he leave them at the scene of the crime?

Great start by Tyson.

Good word by the others, too.

Nice double-teams by the heels. They could make a good team.

Percy has some serious fire. I like it.

Interesting ending. Looks like Reks and Hawkins are setting him up.

On to rankings. Or "ranking" as it were. 5 is ready for a regular part of Raw or Smackdown, 4 is closer to that extreme than the other, 3 is in the middle, 2 is close to being more ready for a demotion to FCW or release, and 1 should be sent back to FCW or released.

Derrick Bateman - 4 (Last time: 4). Solid backstage segment this week. I think he just needs to step it up in the ring before I could recommend him to be on the "main roster" regularly. He's quite good but he isn't invaluable and that could be a problem at crunch time for releases.

That's all for the 5/9 NXT. The 5/10 Superstars and Impact should be up tomorrow, as should the 5/9 news post and more. Thanks for reading!
