Waltman shoots on TNA, Questions on following the business online, lying indies, TNA branching out, JBL and tattoos, Angle and Bryan talk, TNA release, Gut Check update, more on King Mo, Raw going to 3 hours, Impact going live all summer, and both WWE and TNA sign legends' daughters

Sean Waltman took some shots at Dixie Carter and TNA on Twitter. Here are the quotes and some backstory.

For my take on the 5/17 PWInsider.com questions:
1. I know that Kevin Nash, Sean Waltman, and Bully Ray have all sent in press releases and news there (with their names attached), so there are three more names for you.

2. Some promoters do that kind of thing to "work" the audience like a crooked carnival worker with a fixed game. This is why it's hard for good indies to build up a name with wrestlers and fans alike.

3. Sometimes success in business is more about a good run of base hits than a home run here and there. That said, I think they could do a better job marketing themselves and pushing the product. That kind of thing only goes so far when you can't get people to keep tuning in, though.

After the break, I hit everything else from 5/17.

 4. He grew on me as a promo as JBL. Truly passionate promos can be a wonderful thing and that was about as passionate as one can get.

5. WWE wants to be notified of any appearance change well in advance. They have video games, action figures, etc. built around how exactly someone looks. TNA probably isn't as strict given that two performers just got different haircuts (Roode and Kazarian) and it wasn't an issue.

Kurt Angle talked about his career and more.

Daniel Bryan talked about the YES! chants and more. Very good listen. I'd love to see him face Brock Lesnar. It could propel Bryan to near the top of the company.

TNA released Anthony Nese. He wanted to work an Internet PPV for another company but wasn't given permission. They offered him a release from his contract, and he accepted. They hadn't used him for months anyway so it probably worked best for both involved. He can get dates on the indies and they can save money not having someone they're not doing anything with. He wasn't bad from what I'd seen, but there's only so much air time.

Update: Nese requested his release. He said more about it on Twitter.

Bruce Pritchard and Al Snow were scouting at OVW TV tapings for future Gut Checks.

King Mo is expected to train in OVW before appearing in TNA.

Raw is regularly moving to 3 hours starting 7/23. This will lead to all of Superstars being taped before Smackdown and NXT will then presumably shift to showing the tapings at Full Sail. More people getting TV time is hopefully what comes out of this. It's all in what WWE uses that extra hour for.

TNA Impact will be live all summer beginning on 5/31 in its new timeslot. I hope that's worth the extra cost in booking everyone for more tapings.

WWE signed Ashley Flair, Ric's daughter, to a developmental deal after she has been training with WCW's Lodi.

In an unrelated story, TNA signed Brooke Hogan. She'll be the new on-screen executive of the Knockouts division. TNA's trying to play off of her reality fame to get attention.

That's all for the 5/17 news. More to come after the 5/18 Smackdown tonight.
