Del Rio and WWE settle, Interview with Rollins, Gabriel update, NXT return, title match official for next Sunday, a very grumpy Raw, Punk's new gig, Garcia note, Smackdown audience, Questions on the reigning and defending heavyweight champion of the world, and shaking up Raw

WWE and the former Alberto Del Rio have reached a settlement. The former Del Rio (who's worked as El Patron Alberto and just "Alberto" since his WWE run ended) is now able to take U.S. bookings, while the two sides have agreed not to disparage each other. WWE was attempting to prevent Alberto from wrestling in the States due to breaching his contract, but Alberto got attorneys involved and this is the result. It's entirely possible we see Alberto in Lucha Underground in 2015, and Rey Mysterio could be headed there later in the year, too.

Update: Here's an interview with Alberto. Props to him for being able to forge his own path. I think if there was a solid competitor to WWE in the U.S., a number of talents would jump ship and try to become competition.

Update: WWE issued a statement. I hope both sides put this behind them and grow from here.

Seth Rollins talked about the big feuds he's had and more. I'm glad WWE put The Shield over so strong vs. Evolution, given how HHH and Batista aren't wrestling now. Good piece.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Justin Gabriel is still on WWE's European tour. I'm not really surprised. I'm glad he was able to work some people, though.

NXT's Solomon Crowe has returned to the ring after missing a few months due to injury. I'm ready to see what he's got.

AJ Lee vs. Nikki Bella for the Divas' Championship is official for Survivor Series. I'm guessing Brie's getting involved in some way. Can Nikki make Brie the special referee? If so, why hasn't she?

Internet sensation Grumpy Cat will be a guest star on next week's Raw. I actually like Grumpy Cat, but I don't know if this will really help WWE in any way.

C.M. Punk will be writing an issue of Thor.

Loki
"Thor, as you sit there, hopefully as uncomfortable as you can possibly be..."

I definitely want to read that.

Lilian Garcia sang "God Save The Queen" at the Raw taping. That's a nice touch. She had been sick for a while before Raw.

Smackdown's audience Friday was 2.43 million. Not bad, given some previous weeks.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Because Paul Heyman's client, BROCK LESNAR, is a beast in the form of a man. He conquered The Undertaker's undefeated streak at WrestleMania. He humbled John Cena, the top name in the company for going on a decade now. He's like a hungry lion set loose on a limping hyena. That's why.

2. No. I don't. In fact, it makes it all the more special when we do see him defend it. It's now an event to see the champion put the title on the line, the way it used to be before there were two World Titles defended every month on PPV, and on every live event. The Super Bowl is once a year. The World Series is once a year. You get the idea.

3. Well, there's that one Paul Heyman guy who can talk pretty good. Maybe they use him to hype up the match? I like the idea of one monster coming to hunt the other. I don't necessarily think they should go that route, but it would be a pretty big match.

4. I do think putting new names into the mix (while cycling old names into lesser roles) and changing the "formula" of Raw would both be beneficial moves to improve the company's flagship show.

5. I like the idea of a new star being built when Brock drops the title. I'm not as sold on seeing another Brock/Taker match. Unless Taker has one REALLY good match in him come WM31, he should probably just face Sting in a match with some bells and whistles to make it special. That would be a fitting end for both of them.

More wrestling tomorrow.
