Main Event:
Good enough match to start us up. I like these two teams. I hope Stardust has an awesome career ahead of him.
Tyson Kidd's such a hateable guy, and I mean that in praise of his current heel work. Great segment.
Nice match between Gabriel and Axel. I think Axel's kind of refreshed from the last time we saw him. He's a great undercard worker, and that's a fine role for him for now.
Great to see Sami Zayn get a video package. Is this him coming to the main roster for real or just a special occasion? I'm guessing it's something of a tryout for a bigger role.
Good match between Zayn and Tyson. I think it's really time to be thinking of how to use Zayn on the main roster on a regular basis.
I hope Orton's comeback goes off well. He could be a great addition to the face side while remaining an antihero.
Good little match to show what Bray can do. It was fine to set up his match at Survivor Series.
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
AJ Lee, Emma, Renee Young, and Lilian Garcia all noted problems with flights ahead of Raw. As if their lives couldn't be more stressful.
Cesaro needed five stitches after his match with Dean Ambrose on Raw. They put on a really good bout.
Here are live notes from Raw. In kayfabe it makes sense to bring the Russian flag down to the ring regardless. If they bring it and he loses, they just don't have to have it come down from the rafters. If they don't bring it and he wins, they're screwed.
Rey Mysterio met with WWE officials at Raw to discuss his current standing with the company. There's no word on how negotiations went, but he was not in attendance at Smackdown. I think it's pretty clear he wants out of his contract, but WWE probably wants to milk whatever they can out of his likeness until the extension expires. I'm not sure if he's been cleared to compete, or if either side is interested in him returning to a WWE ring while he's still under his current deal.
WWE will feature a military veteran on Smackdown. I think that's a great cause.
Kevin Owens, formerly Kevin Steen, is set to debut at either the next Takeover special on Dec. 11 or the following night's NXT tapings. Vignettes for his debut are in the works. I'm excited! He's got a solid reputation coming into the company.
Christian will host the Peep Show with Dean Ambrose on Smackdown. There's currently no timetable for him getting back in the ring, which is a shame given how good he is.
GFW officially announced the NJPW PPV airing January 4. I think people are going to be disappointed if Jim Ross and/or Mike Tenay aren't doing commentary, but it shouldn't be assumed they will be. I don't even know if Tenay will be contractually eligible to appear, though there are rumors of his TNA deal expiring before then.
NXT's Finn Balor talked about his career as Prince Devitt and more. The fact of him not even being on NXT TV yet and being interviewed is a sign of how big of a deal his signing is. As for the Young Bucks, they've definitely rubbed some people the wrong way. I can see why they'd be positioned as heels.
Daniel Bryan is on the new poster for WrestleMania 31, but Bad News Barrett was removed. The Undertaker wasn't on either version of the official promotional material. Read into that what you will. I wouldn't assume anything this far out, but it's interesting.
There's speculation SkyTV in the UK prevented the WWE Network from launching on time. A fan took to Twitter to get Sky's take on the matter. I think the fan was being unreasonable and assuming things. The representative said clearly several times the decision was made by WWE, not Sky.
Raw drew 4.04 million viewers Monday night, a sizable jump from the previous week despite the lack of John Cena. They were no doubt aided by an underperforming NFL game and the surprise appearance of Vince McMahon. Still, this is a victory for those who want to see if WWE can survive without having Cena appear so much.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I think it could be built properly, but they'd really have to get behind Ryback. All in all, I think there might be better options to beat Rusev.
2. If by priceless, you mean "WWE might have started laying off undercard wrestlers", then yes, it would have been pretty priceless.
3. It's a "worked shoot", manipulated and staged to get the results they want.
4. It doesn't look like it. I don't see Brock defending the title until he faces Cena at the Rumble. But maybe WWE makes that match a triple threat? I'd be down.
5. Absolutely! WWE sees themselves as more or less of a soap opera/variety show that occasionally features wrestling matches.
More wrestling tomorrow.
