Hulk Hogan said he's training for a comeback. Unless he's jobbing to Rusev in 30 seconds, I don't really care to see it. I've had my fill of him in the ring since the matches with Orton and HBK.
Davey Richards' medical issue came from his EMT job, not wrestling. I'd expect Richards vs. Edwards in 2015 for TNA (with them ending up back as a team later in the year as TNA runs out of ideas for them as singles stars).
The former Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez appeared as surprise guests at Tommy Dreamer's HOH iPPV yesterday. I'd love to see them get signed by TNA, but I think Lucha Underground is far more likely.
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Marc Mero announced he will soon be undergoing heart surgery. I wish him the best!
C.M. Punk took a shot at the entitlement of fans. I think he's got a point. He retired in January for his own health, mental and physical.
Brock Lesnar is advertised for the January 12 Raw. He's facing Cena at the Rumble, so that makes sense.
Ric Flair is advertised as a referee for the December 20 WWE live event. Roman Reigns is also set for that show. I'm interested to see where Reigns fits into things when he comes back, especially if The Authority's no longer in power.
WWE 2K15 was advertised at a UFC show. I'm sure that went over well with some of the fans there!
TNA is believed to be very close to announcing a new TV deal that will see them leave Spike at the end of the year. Spike will indeed show some "Best Of" shows to wrap up 2014. TNA and Spike are still on good terms, and will still have a connection through the Bellator contracts (although that's pretty much just Lashley now). TNA will survive to 2015 after all.
TNA's TV deal is expected to be for at least two years, on a network with significantly smaller overall viewership than Spike (believed to be either Destination America or Velocity). This will almost definitely mean less money coming in for TNA, but they could end up with additional programming beyond Impact. TNA will be the focal point of the new network in a number of ways.
While I'll still cover TNA in its new incarnation, I don't think it will truly be a "major promotion" on the scale of WWE if they're on a channel only about half the country gets. We'll see what viewership looks like in a few months, but I'm not expecting them to continue to appear like the No. 2 promotion in the country.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. As was said, he was making his mark on Ziggler and asking to be the fifth man on Team Authority at Survivor Series. I think that's a good move. It would have made sense in kayfabe for HHH to join the team (and/or Mercury and Noble), but WWE's making the right move in focusing on the full-time wrestlers and putting some new names in the mix. The only question is how to fill the undercard now that the U.S. and IC Champions, Mark Henry, and Big Show are all in the main event.
2. That's probably cheaper than flying them out to where Impact is taped.
3. It depends on some degree how far back "years ago" is. If he was in his late 20s/early 30s with a good deal of experience, I think he would have had a chance to succeed if his size and speaking abilities didn't hold him back. I don't know if he could have been at the level of Punk or Bryan, but I wouldn't assume he'd be buried, either.
4. I'd also like to see WWE promote the midcard champions more in Brock's absence. To note, both midcard champions are in the main event of a Big 4 PPV on Sunday, so it's not like they're not being utilized.
5. I think Reigns could use some more depth as a character, and him being able to ad lib more would help him, too.
More wrestling tomorrow.
