Read on for my thoughts on last night's Raw.
Taker promos have gotten pretty formulaic. I can see why there aren't more gimmicks like his in 2015. Him facing Brock should be pretty sweet, though.
This commentary is going to be a MESS with that many people. Cool to see things start with the Divas, though.
- Charlotte vs. Brie:
Charlotte's already lasted longer than her first Raw match!
Pretty nice match overall, but I'm probably saying that because Brie tapped to the Figure 8.
Hey, at least we spared from Miz vs. Show on the special event we paid extra for.
- Los Matadores vs. PTP:
I miss Zeb's promos on Los Matadores...
Not a bad match, with PTP shining as they always do. Diego and Fernando are pretty much the bottom rung on the tag team ladder.
Looks like New Day vs. PTP is continuing. Unless they want to throw LM in there for some variety.
That should be quite the main event.
- Show vs. Miz:
At least that was quick. It's hard being a Miz defender sometimes.
Whoa, way to make me REALLY not want to watch Tough Enough. But maybe it gets others watching.
PART of me wants me to acknowledge when Paul E. Dangerously managed Mean Mark Callous, but I would think that would break kayfabe. How about when Heyman was GM of Smackdown and feuded with Taker?
Good stuff from Heyman. I've seen plenty of HHH and Stephanie tonight, though.
That was pretty fun between Brock and Taker. Heyman is one hell of an antagonizer.
I hope Rollins brags he could have beaten Brock and Taker last night. That damn weasel.
Why did it take so long to put Wyatt and Harper back together? I do think something's missing with no Rowan.
- Harper vs. Reigns:
Not a bad match between the two big men. Harper's pre-WWE experience is helping him out in leading Reigns.
Not bad overall. It will be interesting to see if the two sides add a third member going forward to sort of, kind of, not really recreate the Wyatts vs. The Shield.
Good post-match to get heat on Wyatt and Harper. They need to look credible.
God Rollins can get under people's skin so well.
Wins and losses don't matter. Heat matters.
Interesting dichotomy of kind of devaluing the WWE Title while elevating the U.S. belt.
Honestly, Cena vs. Rollins would be pretty great. IF they present Rollins as a threat who doesn't need his fallen comrades.
All three NXT callups in action tonight! Yes!
- Paige/Becky vs. Sasha/Naomi:
I maintain Becky could have used more time in NXT to become a more well-rounded performer. She seemed to have just started clicking when this angle started.
Sasha and Becky work well together. The former is a natural heel.
Sasha making Paige tap is definitely a statement. I'm excited for the new faces in the division.
I look forward to Smackdown's Divas match. Getting the NXT names some experience is a good goal.
If Ziggler was gone from the company, I doubt they'd say he's getting ready to return to the ring.
Rusev and Summer Rae are also pretty effective heels. It's a shame we haven't seen more of Summer before now.
- Cena/Cesaro/Orton vs. Owens/Rusev/Sheamus:
This one's already pretty awesome. Some of the world's top athletes are in it.
Pretty crazy dissension on the heel side. I expected this to end with Rollins giving them an unfair advantage.
I'm expecting Lana to transition into being a wrestler (at least part-time) following Summerslam.
That ending was justifiable given how much it took to beat Rusev. He couldn't remain unstoppable forever.
More wrestling coming up.
