WWE Beast in the East Reax

Read on for my thoughts on yesterday's WWE Network special.

They're pushing Brock early!

It's pretty cool to see WWE in a very different arena. I hope we're in for some more stuff like this as the company continues to go global and the Network continues to grow. It's a really impressive time we're living in where we can watch something live on the other side of the globe in such quality.

I like the minimalist setup for the event, which is pretty common for their live shows.

- Jericho vs. Neville:
I didn't get to see Y2J's formative years pre-WWF, so I wonder how similar he was to Neville then.

I like the commentators actually giving a f*ck about the match and competitors.

A two-man booth in WWE has been sorely missed.

Jericho's probably lost half a step or so, but he's still a great worker.

It's weird to see Y2J as the bigger, less flashy performer of the contest.

Pretty good match overall so far.

NICE counter into the Walls of Jericho.

This continues to be solid as Neville kicks out of a Lionsault. I think Jericho respects the former NXT Champion.

These two work together well.

Really good ending. Neville put up one hell of a fight, and has nothing to be ashamed of in defeat.

- Nikki vs. Paige vs. Tamina:
For those who think WWE never gives Divas a chance, they could have shown Cesaro vs. Diego or the Tastumi/Hideo segment here instead. Or a Raw replay... you get the idea.

Kind of an underwhelming ending. The match was OK, nothing overly exciting.

- Lesnar vs. Kofi:
WHOA. I definitely didn't expect WWE to acknowledge Brock's time in New Japan, given the messy legal battle that occurred there.

I wonder if they have Jimmy John's in Japan...

I love seeing Brock just DESTROY midcarders. "Final Boss of WWE" indeed.

Brock should have thrown in a Shooting Star Press for the hell of it. That wasn't a match; it was a massacre.

BAH GAWD BROCK! HAVE YOU NO COMPASSION!? ENOUGH IS E-DAMN-NOUGH!! Seriously, though, cool to see Brock dominate. Hopefully it doesn't crush the New Day too much.

Cool Balor/Owens video package. This has been well done.

- Balor vs. Owens:
This feels like a big fight before they even lock up. Two international superstars with years of experience colliding on a pretty large stage.

Owens got me good with the flowers being thrown.

I liked Balor going for his finisher early. This match should be that important.

Owens is so great at getting the fans to boo him. I'm glad he's getting a big shot at the main roster.

Clever of Owens to hit the back senton as soon as Balor entered the ring.

I love Owens psyching the crowd out with the chinlock. What separates him from so many wrestlers from the indies is he doesn't just half-heartedly do heel things in-between crowd-pleasing moves. That's a lost art with some.

This match has been something. It's going to be hard to care about a Kane match after this.

Balor could have had him after hitting the Coup de Grace, and the match would have still been great.

Owens' Lambeau Leap was pretty cool. Talented guy.

Balor going for a signature move from his NJPW days to try to beat Owens was a pretty cool homage.

Nice stuff leading to the ending, and a really enjoyable match overall. Congrats to the new champ.

Pretty cool post-match.

- Cena/Ziggler vs. Kane/Barrett:
We all know how this match is going to go. It's not really worth recapping.

Fine match overall. This was something formulaic for a live event. The actually important stuff was over or will happen at Raw.

More wrestling coming up.
