Here's a live report from a recent ROH live event:
- I'm guessing the first match featured local talent, which isn't a bad idea to warm people up and give those people an opportunity.
- Considering Sinclair is behind ROH's TV deal on a lot of syndicated channels AND Destination America, leading to their biggest reach in the U.S. ever and their biggest reach worldwide since 2007, maybe they should get to plug some of their other shows before the action begins?
- There are names in other matches I'm not familiar with from the TV show or website. Are these people trying out for ROH? Are they just some local guys filling in? I wish ROH would have done some stuff to explain who and what they are for people just watching in the DA era.
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Steve Corino talked about ROH, ECW, and more:
- I wish I got to see more of Matt Hardy's ROH stuff about being an innovator of that style. He's an amazing heel for that demographic.
- I'd like to think ROH being on a bigger scale thanks to the DA deal would lead to more growth for them. All they need now is to bring in the Hulkster and Easy E and they can finally hit the big time, brother.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Honestly I think that could play into it. There's no saying how much of a factor that is, though.
2. Reality shows are in some ways like Vince Russo's "worked shoots." There's some reality, but ultimately it's all twisted into the narrative the producers of the show want to tell. It's about RATIN'S BRO.
3. They only have so many people and so much in the way of resources, so they're focusing to some degree on the stuff that's on older forms of media that haven't been digitized. Also I don't know how much of a market there is for that compared to other content.
4. Because most fans don't care about that as much as more recent stuff. Also, it's much easier to add material that's already "Web ready" than converting all those old VHS tapes or whatever they have lying around.
5. The Rising beat him up and hurt him. :(
Seriously, though, he was something of a short-term addition because he did need that surgery. Hopefully we see him on TV again in late 2015/early 2016.
More wrestling tomorrow.
