Read on for my thoughts on last night's Raw.
I'm already excited for Summerslam. Four hours is a BIG deal, but hopefully they can make it worthwhile. Using Taker, Sting, and Stephen Amell would help fill that time. But what else? Can they get The Terminator to face Robocop?
Those are some impressive matches to throw out. I'm glad to see some new faces in the mix.
I'm glad Rollins is still champion. He's just too much fun to take the title from. The New Day were in a similar position, but props to PTP for beating them nonetheless.
I can see where people will think WWE ripped off ROH's title vs. title feud here. Either way, the idea of Cena holding both titles is frightening.
It looks like they're finally running out of people to challenge Cena. Cena vs. Rollins should be prety good, though.
- Ambrose vs. Show:
I like Ambrose as the feisty underdog here. Big Show works better when he has an opponent who can really move.
Good chokeslam counter.
Impressive showing by Ambrose. Surviving an onslaught by Show helps his standing. I get this sinking feeling Show's going to join Bray and Harper leading to Summerslam.
I think Show's bringing it here. It's impressive to see.
That was a fine ending, I think. Show looked strong without totally killing Ambrose's shine. Hopefully Dean takes a rematch.
Good post-match.
- Fandango vs. Neville:
These two match up pretty well. Fandango makes for a good utility player.
That was fairly quick, but good.
I'm getting ready to get to the stage where Stephen Amell is added to the mix, even if it's just via satellite.
Pretty good Divas' segment. I'm liking the new faces of the division. Keep it going!
- Paige vs. Sasha:
This one's pretty good so far. Paige is turning it up a notch.
That was awesome! Both of them showed some real fighting spirit. I hope this is just the start of things. Making better use of Summer Rae and Emma on the main roster in addition to calling up Bayley in 2016 will really set things in the right direction. Hopefully in the meantime the other NXT Divas step up and become the next set of people to make their mark.
Rollins has really come into his own as champion. Can he just hold every title?
There's some real heat to the Rusev/Lana angle. This has been great at building to Summerslam as a time when the gloves come off. The fish can be special referee.
Brock vs. Taker should be pretty fun. I hope they make it No Holds Barred.
- Matadores vs. Dragons:
The action was good before the New Day came out, but there wasn't much at stake with two face teams going at it.
At least the Dragons won. I like them.
Wyatt's promos remain enticingly cryptic. And pretty dark for a kid's show.
Good promo overall. I'm interested in what the end game is. Show teaming with Bray and Harper against Ambrose, Reigns, and Sting would be kind of a letdown due to Show's involvement. That's pretty much the main option, though. Unless the Wyatts turn Adam Rose into Leo Kruger, which would be much more interesting but not as noteworthy. In an ideal world, Kruger would get enough heat to look like a threat. But he'd probably need to be the one to take the fall at match time.
- Charlotte/Becky vs. Alicia/Nikki:
Charlotte and Becky work together quite well. I like it.
Pretty good match while it lasted. The NXT3 are clearly holding their own on the main roster.
- Orton vs. Owens:
This is a big match, and should be treated like one.
Owens just fights rude and dirty sometimes. It's fun to watch.
Well, that was fun while it lasted. I'm guessing this will set up a tag match or something?
At least Cesaro got a hope spot. I'm glad he's getting a bigger stage (for now).
Cena's had worse promos. I'm glad they're short and sweet.
- Cena vs. Rollins:
These two can tear it up, too. I like when two top level guys can go hard without it feeling like they're just throwing out cool moves.
Cena looks like even more of a warrior for fighting with his nose like that.
Damn. Both men are really bringing it with counters. Why did people think Cena can't hang with some of the indie darlings?
I was impressed with both men there. Really, really great stuff.
More wrestling coming up.
