Miz interview, Maryse seeks restraining order, more WWE stars in FCW, Questions on Punk-Joey Styles, Steiner, Rodriguez-Del Rio, Bryan not cashing in, and putting someone through an announce table, Miz to guest star on Psych, big Punk interview, more on TNA/Direct and TNA/Tristar, Foley considering return to WWE

The Miz was interviewed at the Cleveland Indians game, where he threw out the first pitch.

This is one of the creepiest wrestling news items I've ever read: Maryse has filed a request for a permanent restraining order against a man who's said to have sent her a number of disturbing voicemails and letters. I hope that situation gets worked out. That's a pretty scary story.

The FCW house show for 7/27 saw appearances by Kelly Kelly, Justin Gabriel, Alex Riley, Bill DeMott, Mason Ryan, and Jinder Mahal.

Next up, a look at PWInsider.com's questions:
1. I don't see Joey Styles returning to commentary, but I would have said the same thing about JR and he just came back to Raw! Even when taking that into consideration, I don't think we'll see him that scenario going down. You never know, though, given some of the curveballs we've been thrown lately.

2. That was all news to me, outside of why he doesn't do the Frankensteiner. I've seen him pull it out from time to time, but presumably all those years of bumps catching up to him are what prevents him from doing more things like that more often. He'll be 49 on Friday, and his first match was in 1986!

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's news and questions, starting with why Ricardo Rodriguez is still with Alberto Del RRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOO.

3. Well, from a storyline standpoint, I was under the assumption that Del Rio was paying him to be his personal ring announcer, so maybe he doesn't want to give up that gig? I think he still adds to Del Rio's character in the ways they mentioned (in addition to the entrance deal), so I'm fine with them still being together. It wouldn't surprise me if he ends up wrestling down the line, seeing as how he's been training in FCW (and competed in a number of indy promotions for years before that).

4. Instead of getting a "fluke" win over an injured opponent, he wants to headline the biggest show of the year. It's pretty understandable for someone with his level of honor to not take the easy way out. And they are pushing him, it's just kind of a "slow burn" push instead of a huge jump into the main event picture (which can backfire badly). Presumably if they gave him the briefcase they're going to have him be a bigger deal than he was and he'll be allowed to work higher-profile matches as time passes. Rome wasn't built in a day; give it some time.

5. What they said makes sense. And maybe WWE "fines them" for the cost of the announce table and they don't want the monitors to be added to that bill? That'd be a pretty cool explanation. Surely the GMs and management aren't going to let them get off scot-free? Anyway, I don't think I've heard an "official" explanation there, but I can see them not wanting to crash on a monitor and potentially get hurt even worse.

The Miz will have a future guest starring role on "Psych".

C.M. Punk's interview with ESPN's Bill Simmons is now up. Great stuff as always from him. Some thoughts in order: I love that he's going to continue using that music. This man GETS it on pretty much every level. I wish that they had saved the match for Survivor Series, but I get why they put it on Summerslam. I like to some degree when wrestlers try new things if they work. Adding some new moves, changing a look, etc. can be great for someone who's stagnant. He did an amazing job straddling the line between work and shoot.

He makes a great point about sitting back and letting things play out. I do it, too. It's easy to get caught up in these things. I try to hold back and not fly off the handle for every little thing. I'd say that the Nexus storyline was a pretty sizable deal, too, but this was huge (as was Hogan's WWE return years back).

I like his thoughts on his match not using chairs and tables and the likes. He's right about the media friendly types getting pushed. WWE's a public company and they want to put their friendly face forward. I wish more wrestlers had whatever it is that Punk has. The gift of gab is part of it. He's dead on about the dangerous bumps needing to be toned down. They're not nearly as bad as they used to be, or on some indy shows, but they can still be shocking.

And he's right about taking chances, too... and needing a new presentation to characters and the like... and hardcore fans and "armchair bookers" (myself included! Some of my ideas, looking back, weren't as good as what happened when it actually played out), and making fans cry, etc.. All in all, this was a great listen.

Speaking of Punk, here's a piece on him coming to a future house show.

AJ Styles and Sarita are doing a promotional appearance at the head of Direct Auto Insurance in Texas on 7/28.

To promote TNA's new Tristar trading cards, Ric Flair, Mr. Anderson, Kurt Angle, and Tara will all appear at the Sports Collectors Convention in Illinois on 8/6.

Mick Foley stated that he's considering being part of WWE again on his Twitter. You know what, everyone else says he should be the Raw GM. Let's make a different pitch: Smackdown GM. Shake things up there and work with/help the younger guys along.

WWE has issued a fan survey looking for opinions on PPV prices, who watches NXT online, WWE.com, Facebook, and even ice cream bars.

Cody Rhodes and Alicia Fox were both interviewed at Comic-Con. I love that Rhodes wears the mask in public. He had an interviewer wear a paper bag in another interview.

Finally, Jim Ross talked about how he kept his return a secret. I like when they do things like that to make sure things are surprises.

That's all for Wednesday's news. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
