TNA Impact Wrestling preview- 7/14/11

Since today's episode of Impact Wrestling is a fairly big deal (pretty close to a PPV without actually being one), I've decided to give it its own "how I'd book it" post. I'm only going to go into the matches and angles that I had heard were going to be on the show in the official preview. Read on for my take on what they "should" do/have done.

First up, Madison Rayne is facing Tara. This is a feud that's been somewhat on the back burner despite a pretty easy setup on paper. I mean, Madison basically OWNED Tara for a while there, but we haven't seen them interact much since Mickie won the match to free Tara. So, I think we need to add more fuel to the fire tonight. And here's how I'd do it: At some point before their match, we see Tara come to the building in one of her signature motorcycles and park it (as the announcers talk about her arrival and her match and so on). When her music hits for her match, she makes her way down the entrance ramp, looking "all business" or however you want to describe it. Point being, she's looking to get revenge on Madison.

Madison's music hits, and... she doesn't come out. Instead, she's in the back near Tara's motorcycle. With her is at least one large tough-looking man. Long story short, Madison faked some paperwork and has "sold" the motorcycle to the guy's chop shop to be broken down and used for parts. Tara tries to run backstage and get to Madison, but she and the buyer flee. In at least one interview down the line from shaky-cam guy, she talks about how much it was worth, and that it was custom-made and so on. She doesn't break down and cry or anything, but the implication is that it had serious value for her and Madison really crossed the line in doing what she did. We also get some vignettes from Madison at the chop shop where she gloats about how much it sold for and so on. This eventually leads to a "Biker chain match" with Madison at Hardcore Justice. Pole matches are pretty much universally ridiculed (for good reason), so instead the big chain should be in a box set up at ringside.

Mexican America beats the British Invasion to become #1 Contenders to Beer Money. This becomes more of a brawl than a technical wrestling match, which favors Hernandez and Anarquia. They use illegal doubleteams and the like (blatant chokes in the corner, etc) because they're heels and couldn't care less about rules and honor.

Jeff and Karen's surprise for Immortal is Jeff winning the AAA Title down in Mexico. He flaunts his victory and how he's "el Jeffe" and all that kind of stuff. I don't really know the details on the deal with AAA and who they'd want to take the title back and what their characters would say and do or anything like that, so I'll just say that there should be segments from Jeff in the weeks to come about being royalty in Mexico and the greatest luchador of all time and so on. They can even do a big celebration where he busts open a pinata or what have you. I just wanted to give the gist of the angle.

For the Bound For Glory Series triple threat, D'Angelo Dinero should get the win over Bobby Roode in a continuation of Roode's injury angle (which would also eventually cost him the tag titles in the feud with Mexican America). Things eventually would get to the point where he'd "be forced to take time off to heal up". I think he should be off TV for a while, then get somewhat of a reintroduction about him training even harder to recover and be successful in TNA,not let his fans down, etc.. Dinero would celebrate his tainted win (over someone who's clearly not 100%) with a reluctant Devon and his kids. Joe would do a good deal of the work on Roode as the submission specialist, only for the crafty Dinero to steal the points.

As for the main storyline, I think it's really time to make Anderson either fully with or fully against Immortal. Too much flip-flopping and teasing going on. He says that after last week, they're all even and all on the same page. He was just getting a bit of a receipt for all he's been through against them. They have an uneasy truce that will get stronger over time. They plan to gang up on Sting so Anderson will keep the title. But, crazy Sting chases the other members of Immortal back to their locker room on a forklift or something that he parks in front of the door so that they can't interfere. So, the main event is one-on-one. Sting continues his trip down the rabbit hole of insanity in this match, going heavier on the mannerisms than normal. Anderson is able to outquick and outthink Sting, who's... well, not all there anymore. At the end of a match that shows that Anderson can "go" without Immortal, Sting tries to get the win with the Deathdrop. BUT, Anderson has his foot on the rope. Sting, in his less-than-stellar state, doesn't know/care about this technicality, and goes out to get the championship belt. As he hoists it up and faces Anderson, he gets dropped by a Mic Check on the title, which means Anderson retains the gold. He and Immortal continue to be on the same page in the weeks to come, as he prepares to face his next challenger, Kurt Angle (who will be in a much more sane mental state and thus a bigger threat to the title).

So there's how I'd book A Midsummer's Nightmare or whatever they're calling tonight's Impact Wrestling. I'll be back later tonight to cover how it actually goes down. Thanks for reading!
