TNA Destination X Preview

TNA's in a bit of an odd spot this week, with two hyped events occurring in a time span of 5 days. Seeing as how Midsummer Nightmare is being pushed as a big deal as well, I'll have a separate column on Thursday for how I'd book it. But for now, I'll stick with detailing how I'd book the big X-Division showcase. After the break, I start with a match that hasn't been officially announced yet.
Generation Me mentioned on Twitter that they'd be used on the show, but their opponents weren't named. I'd have them face rarely-seen employees Okada and Kiyoshi. I haven't heard of the latter being officially released, but he's no longer listed on the TNA website. So, if he's unavailable, I'd want them to get someone not already working that night to be Suicide. I'd normally want to build a feud or something instead of just throwing a PPV match out there that doesn't mean much, but there's only so much room on TV for feuds (and there are a few more I'll be starting/continuing later), so this is just a one-time thing that the Bucks win.

As for Douglas Williams' open challenge, they should either bring in a Latino independent wrestler (possibly someone from AAA or former LAX member Machete) to face him and bring the feud between the Brits and Mexican America to an even 3-on-3 (excluding the females), or, if that's not an option, use Anarquia. If they're able to do the first option, Williams should win then get a beatdown from Hernandez and Anarquia, prompting a run-in by Magnus and Rob Terry to even things up. This is to lead to the #1 Contenders' tag match on Thursday. If they have to use Anarquia, then he gets the win with a weapon of some kind. Not very X-Division like, I know, but there will be plenty more from that style later.

Low Ki wins the match for the TNA contract. He then goes on to feud with Amazing Red as he works his way up the X-Division ladder towards a title match. He should be back as the warrior he was when he was last in TNA as opposed to the more tame Kaval from WWE.

Ultimate X is where things get a little crazy. Amazing Red's got Low Ki as his next feud in this scenario, and I want to keep Shannon Moore in the tag team division. So, the winner of this match will be the only heel here, Robbie E. The match should be good enough to where it doesn't take away from it too much to have an odd ending. Robbie grabs the X, but is about to be speared by Shelley. So, he throws it to Cookie on the floor. She then keeps it "safe" until Robbie and Shelley come down from the ropes, and she throws it to Robbie, who then wins the match. The BS ending is building to something though. Shelley goes into somewhat of a funk following the loss, and his recent lack of success without Sabin (since he had some issues with Storm when they teamed). After a few weeks (maybe a little over a month) of him getting frustrated, he gets an offer from another former tag team partner who's looking for a job: Austin Aries. They reform their Paparazzi Productions and become the backstage camera guys for TNA, doing a better job than the goofy shaky cam they have there now. They also get the ok to team up when Aries beats someone they want to get rid of in a "contract" match (Winner's hired, loser's fired). Or he can just bribe Bischoff or someone for a contract with paparazzi footage that Eric wouldn't want released.

As you might have guessed from Robbie E's win, I plan to have a face as X-Division Champion. Brian Kendrick gets the win. At some point in the match, Abyss uses thumbtacks or whatever his current weapon of choice is in retaliation for the embarrassment he underwent Thursday night. The ref goes to call for a DQ, but Kendrick pleads with him not to. He eventually overcomes the odds and becomes champion. His character becomes more serious following the match, when he realizes what all he had to go through to dethrone the monster. It's a little too ridiculous and out there for my tastes. Kendrick then feuds with Robbie.

Kazarian puts up a fight against the frustrated Joe, but Joe eventually catches with him a Muscle Buster to beat him following at least one unsuccessful Coquina Clutch attempt.

RVD beats Jerry Lynn. Not much to say here, since it isn't leading to anything else angle-wise.

In the main event, Styles beats Daniels. Daniels tries to cheat a bit near the end, but is unsuccessful. He wants a rematch at Hardcore Justice, which Styles grants. Joe, now that Kazarian's been beaten, wants in on it. We get a triple threat Anything Goes match at that event, because I'm under the assumption that the Hardcore Justice name indicates that at least the major matches need stipulations.

So, that's my take on the show. I'll be back later tonight to cover and comment on how it actually goes down.
