Query on Shane McMahon returning to WWE, JBL talks Brawl for All, former developmental wrestler releases book, Matt Hardy health update, next guest on HBK's show, Questions on wrestlers using their real names, saying "Wrestling" in WWE, and Jericho vs. Punk, a new WWE Title, and tights, Savage tribute show goes awry, Rock and Cena trade jabs online, more X-Division stars to come for TNA?, TNA stars at Comic-Con, former WWE stars at Smackdown taping, WWE looking to bring back former fans, another response from Good Humor, a WrestleMania XXVII special confirmed, ratings in the UK, Hogan launches iPhone app, and some new WWE business deals

First up, someone wants to know if Shane McMahon will be returning to WWE at any point this year. That doesn't seem like it's in the cards. He's doing his own thing now.

JBL talked about the old Brawl for All tournament on Facebook. I think there are good reasons they haven't brought that one back. I liked the hardcore division back in the Attitude Era, but I'm not sure it would work today. I can't be the only one who thinks that culture these days has changed enough from the '90s that wrestling promotions shouldn't try to recreate those days.

Former WWE developmental wrestler Ron "H2O" Waterman talked about his faith and autobiography recently.

Matt Hardy detailed on Twitter that his recent illness was a case of food poisoning. He's recovering, but a timetable for his TNA return is currently unknown.

Michael Cole will be on the next episode of Shawn Michaels' hunting show. Oh, how I wish that was in character. "This is riveting television, Shawn. Why can't that NERD Daniel Bryan see that real men eat meat like we do? He doesn't even own a TV!"

After the break, I go into PWInsider.com's questions of the day, starting with whether performers refer to each other by their stage names or real names.

1. They generally get used to calling each other by the name the fans/interviewers etc. use. Weird how that works in a way. And yes, unless you know the wrestler in question personally (and sometimes even then), you should probably call them by their stage name. It's a little bit like principals and teachers calling each other "Mr. or Mrs. _______" instead of their first name when in front of kids, except that they do it much more often.

2. Something like that, yes. At least as far as performers using the words that way. That isn't why WWE made the change, though.

3. I thought of Jericho when he dropped that line, too. I think it would make more sense if he came back and referenced it later, since we're already in a Punk/Cena storyline.

4. I actually hadn't thought of it like that, but that would be clever. But I still don't see Punk leaving Chicago with the title.

5. It could just be a change in fashion like not as many people having long hair.

In what could be a case study for how NOT to put on a wrestling show, an advertised Randy Savage tribute show "for charity" was pretty much a disaster on a number of levels. They probably can't fail harder here if they tried.

The Rock responded to John Cena's remarks in Australia in a new video. That was definitely a Rock promo. Funny stuff, even if I don't fully agree with it.

Update: John Cena commented on the video on Twitter.

There's been talk of bringing in more X-Division talents to TNA. The roster's already pretty crowded, so they need to pick who's going to be used an who isn't. Having some extras for backup/rotating in some times is fine, but there are a number of people in the company who are hardly ever featured.

Kurt Angle and Mickie James will be at Comic-Con at the SpikeTV booth. Angle at 1:00 on 7/22 and Mickie at 3:00 on 7/23.

Justin Credible and Sylvan Grenier both visited at Tuesday's Smackdown taping. Credible is a local and was just stopping by, whereas Grenier had a number of students from his wrestling school working tryouts before the show.

WWE has done a number of focus groups in New York seeking current and former fans of the product in order to research ways to increase their audience. Good for them. Hopefully they listen. Obviously they can't just bring back Stone Cold and The Rock full-time or anything like that, but I'm sure they'll get some good responses out of that (unless they have unusually bad focus groups).

Good Humor has now stated that they have no plans to bring back the WWE ice cream bars. This would be a great opportunity for one of their competitors to speak up and try to make a deal to make them. If there's enough demand for it to turn a profit, of course.

WWE will have another WrestleMania special the night before Summerslam on NBC.

Here are some recent ratings from the UK. They tend to fluctuate a good deal, but TNA consistently does better than WWE there.

Hulk Hogan has launched an app for the iPhone. He's referred to as a WWE legend in the press release. TNA isn't mentioned.

WWE has appointed James McEvoy as the new Director of Digital and Sponsorship for international business. They have a number of new job openings as well.

WWE has signed a deal with an Italian media company to air Raw on Italia 2 starting this month. Things like that are why Raw's the A-show. Always good to expand their reach.

That's all for Wednesday's news. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
