Query on Goldust returning, behind the scenes at Smackdown, D'Angelo Dinero looks for more TV time, Jesse Neal update, Daniels Q&A, WWE looking for new VP of Talent Relations, WWE sells out in South Africa, Questions on commentary, limited commercial interruptions, and TNA pushing younger talents, Andy Leavine to debut on FCW house show, Destination X announce team change, matches announced for Midsummer Nightmare, possible FCW releases, TNA Impact Wrestling taping on the road in August, Impact Wrestling rating, Big Show on Burn Notice, and Rey Mysterio in a K-Swiss ad

Someone asked the blog if Goldust will return to the ring this year. I haven't seen anything indicating that he'll be able to come back any time soon. The story's kind of flown under the radar, as there haven't been any updates on it in quite some time. The last I heard was that he does want to return at some point, but this was months ago so things could be different now. I'd be interested to see how much he can still bring to the table and for how long when he is cleared.

I thought this was pretty cool: someone sent PWInsider.com a report of working backstage at the taping of the 7/8 edition of Smackdown. All very interesting. I like how the more experienced guys are helping out the up-and-comers. Good for them. That's how it should be.

D'Angelo Dinero retweeted a lot of messages from fans who want to see him more on Impact Wrestling, and made sure to forward them to Hogan, Bischoff, and Dixie Carter. Sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease, so maybe that will lead to good things. I'd definitely like to see him more on the show.

Jesse Neal is continuing to rehab a neck injury, which explains why he hasn't been on TV in a while.

Christopher Daniels had a Q&A to promote Sunday's Destination X.

After the break, I look at all of the rest of the day's news and PWInsider.com's questions.

WWE has a listing looking for a new Vice President of Talent Relations to work under John Laurinaitis. It's apparently been up there for a while, so this isn't a reaction to Punk's promo. I know there are plenty of people online who were hoping this meant Laurinaitis was on his way out of the company, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Both Smackdown brand house shows in Cape Town, South Africa were sellouts, so hopefully that evens things out following the robbery.

As promised, here's my take on PWInsider.com's questions, which were linked before the break:
1. Commentators routinely talk over or ignore match endings, so I wasn't really surprised. I've pretty much learned to accept it. Well that and to some degree I tune them out when Taz isn't talking about LETTIN DA PIGEONS LOOSE.

There's nothing to add on 2 and 3, really, other than that Boss Man's far from the only one to have to go by a different name because of WWE's trademarks.

4. In addition to what they said, it made the show closer to a PPV feel. Not to mention that any time you turn away from the main show, there's a chance that someone will switch the channel and not come back.

5. I think the argument could be made that while Roode and Kazarian have been with the company for years, almost all of that time has been spent in midcard/tag team/X-Division purgatory and it would be harder to pull them out of that than it would be to push newer guys like Crimson and Gunner. Crimson, while not amazing, has an intimidating look, presence, and moveset, so it seems like they might be fairly successful in pushing him in the vein of a Lesnar or Goldberg. If they can make us forget about Gunner's run in the lower ranks of Immortal and continue to push him, they might have something there, too. I couldn't agree much more with Joe. In 2005-2006, I saw him as someone who could really take TNA to new heights. But over time they've done so much stop-start with him that he's not the guy he used to be. I never quite saw what everyone else saw in Wolfe, but that could be because they pushed him as such a big deal so quickly. Few talents can make it as a top-tier guy that soon into a run, so I think they goofed there. From a fan perspective, I'd much rather see them give some fairly new people time to shine instead of the same guys I've watched in the main event for nearly/over a decade.

Tough Enough winner Andy Leavine will compete at an upcoming FCW house show. He'll likely be a regular there until they feel he's ready to move up to Raw or Smackdown.

Taz is unable to attend Destination X, and will be replaced on the show by Jeremy Borash. Since they're going somewhat "old school TNA" for the night with the 6-sided ring, a reunion of West and Tenay at commentary would be appropo.

In addition to the previously announced World Title match, next week's "Midsummer Nightmare" edition of Impact Wrestling will have Samoa Joe vs. Robert Roode vs. D'Angelo Dinero in a Bound For Glory Series match, the British Invasion vs. Mexican America for the #1 contendership to the TNA Tag Team Championships, and Madison Rayne vs. Tara.

FCW superstars Monty Lynch and Russell Walker have been removed from the roster page, which likely means that they have been released. I haven't heard much about either of them, so I don't know if this was a good move or not. The company also officially dropped the first name of Roman Leakee, who apparently was only billed by his last name anyway.

TNA will tape Impact Wrestling on 8/25 at the site of their first ever event in Huntsville, AL. Hopefully that works well for the company and they continue to grow.

Impact Wrestling's rating dropped to a 1.11 Thursday night. Not a good number coming off of last week's 1.27. This was a show that featured Scott Steiner, Sting, Hulk Hogan, and Kurt Angle all in big roles, and a big X-Division clash between RVD, Lynn, Styles, and Daniels that was hyped the previous week. Not to mention a grudge match featuring the Knockouts and the continuation of the Bound For Glory Series. A drop-off from a commercial-free show isn't too surprising, but a dip that big is worth noting.

Big Show will guest star on this upcoming Thursday's Burn Notice, on USA Network opposite Impact Wrestling.

Finally, a new K-Swiss ad revolving around the Kenny Powers character from "Eastbound and Down" features Rey Mysterio.

That's all for Friday's news. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
