Cornette appearance, a look at early WCW, WWE Hall of Famer coming back soon?, WWE scouting, new match for Payback, more Impact tapings, match set for Smackdown and Questions on MVP's heel turn, podcasts vs. shoots, the WWE Hall, WWE contracts and Stephanie's stock

Jim Cornette appeared on "Svengoolie" and was challenged to an eating contest. I wonder if he liked that burger more or less than Wendy's. Or Dairy Queen's.

A new book will focus on the pre-Nitro days of WCW. Could be pretty interesting. It sometimes feels like we gloss over that era of the company.

Ric Flair is expected to be at Smackdown. He might not appear on-camera, but the taping is in his current hometown of Atlanta. There are plans for him to return in a regular role. He could be the new Raw GM now that Brad Maddox has been fired.

William Regal was recently scouting for talent at New European Championship Wrestling. As you might expect, that's in Europe. I hope he found some keepers.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Paige vs. Alicia Fox for the WWE Divas' Championship has been added to Payback. It's definitely been an interesting couple of weeks for Fox.

TNA has booked several more days of TV tapings in New York City for early August at the Grand Ballroom. So get used to seeing that venue on Impact. They might return to Universal Studios for the following tapings, but nothing's set yet.

Sheamus vs. Bad News Barrett in a champion vs. champion match is set for Smackdown. I think that will be a pretty good match.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Russo actually addressed his thinking on his new blog. In essence, he says he doesn't book turns. MVP was just reacting to new circumstances. Needless to say, Russo has a different philosophy of things than those of us who believe in things as fairly straightforward with heels and faces. A lot of times, it feels like Russo books a lot of characters as having shades of gray. It makes things kind of wishy-washy and hard to follow as far as who to pull for. While I like MVP better as a heel and his new faction has promise, TNA did JUST get out of a long heel authority figure angle that ended with MVP saving the day. Following TNA can be a very frustrating experience at times.

2. Good question! I do think there's a fundamental difference between two people inside the business discussing things versus someone who's never been a wrestler asking questions. But I think there's some definite overlap there as well.

3. Ultimately it is a very subjective Hall of Fame. And not every World Title reign is equal. Rey Mysterio was WWE Champion during the Summer of Punk angle and it was barely a blip on the radar. I still think Rey belongs in when he retires. Should Miz be a Hall of Famer for his WWE Title reign? I think a top title reign is important to consider, but shouldn't be the only criterion for going in.

4. Basically even if JTG doesn't wrestle for a year, he still gets paid that downside guarantee. Cena makes the downside guarantee plus bonuses from merch, PPVs, etc.

5. She would've gotten away with it if it weren't for that meddling IWC! No, she sold the stock to finance some purchases.

6. It's possible it's insider trading, but it's also possible it was exactly what WWE said it was: she's building a house and sold the stock to pay for it.

More wrestling tomorrow.
