Read on for how I'd book tonight's NXT special.
- Personally I like the idea of Charlotte being the Paige to Nikki Bella's AJ as far as beating her for title the night after WrestleMania. I think she's ready. They could wait until Extreme Rules if they want to, with video packages to hype Charlotte instead of debuting her cold, but I definitely want to see Charlotte take the title from Nikki. This match is perfect to get the title off Charlotte without her really being "beaten". I'd have Sasha pin Becky to get the win. Sasha then has three opponents pretty much ready to go. They can build to a finale between Sasha and Charlotte once the latter's set to go to the main roster. She doesn't have to get her rematch immediately. I'd like to see some other NXT Divas get in the mix, too, at some point. How's Alexa Bliss coming along?
- I don't see any reason to take the tag belts off the Lucha Dragons just to put them right back on them. Blake and Murphy get to show us what they've got in this one as they retain. If it wasn't for Rey leaving sooner rather than later, I'd recommend Kalisto spend more time in NXT. As it is, I can see why WWE would want to rush him to the main roster. They can sign Laredo Kid, too, if they think he can help fill the gap Rey will leave. I'd like to see Blake and Murphy "tested" by The Mechanics, The Vaudevillains, etc..
- Corbin and Dempsey should have a bah gawd slobberknocker. I'd like to see both of them show more range than what we've seen previously. But if we can't get that, just beat the hell out of each other. Corbin goes over, and maybe Dempsey takes some time to keep training in the performance center before we see him again. I like the idea of him coming back to team with Corbin out of mutual respect for how dominant they both can be, thus challenging for the tag team titles. They both need match time, and that's a way to make sure they both get it.
- Itami vs. Breeze has potential to be a pretty good feud. I think they complement each other really well. Itami has a lot of wrestling skills, while Breeze is well-rounded as a character. I'd have Breeze win by smashing an aerosol can into Itami's face or something similar. The point is, he gets Itami angry for a longer rematch. I want to see both men get more ring time and promo development, because they can both add something to the main roster at some point.
- Balor beats Neville, and they shake hands afterward. Nothing really fancy here. Neville's on his way up (or so it would seem) after losing the NXT Title, so he's just here to put the finishing touches on being in developmental. He could just be waiting for the right character and time to debut on the main shows.
- Zayn and Owens should get to show what got them to the dance. Owens throws everything he can at Zayn, but can't get the job done. I'd honestly like to see him hit Zayn with the title or hit Zayn with something that makes him unable to continue. Maybe they could set up a three-way gimmick match for the title in April or so? There's great wrestling ahead. Balor, Zayn, and Owens can all really make their marks in 2015.
