Main Event and Smackdown Reax - 10/22/15

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Main Event and Smackdown.

Main Event:
- Sasha vs. Brie:
Sasha's such a more natural worker than Brie. The Bellas can wrestle, but they're fairly bland as characters.

Sasha's killing it here.

Brie's really making me miss Bryan with her moves in this match.

Nice, solid match overall.

- PTP vs. Strowman/Rowan:
PTP are solid workers.

Really good match overall with the clash between the smaller athletic people and the hosses.

- Owens vs. Neville:
These two work together pretty well.

Owens is just a straight-up dick. Great stuff.

Neville's got heart. That's good against a bigger opponent.

Nice stuff leading to the German suplex spot.

And a solid ending!

Smackdown:
The sooner Kane is out of this role, the better. It makes sense to do a rematch at Survivor Series with Kane out for revenge for losing at HIAC, but I don't think people are exactly chomping at the bit for more of the Demon.

Kane and the Dudleys vs. Rollins, Big E, and Kofi? That'd work as a Smackdown main event.

So-so backstage segment overall. Glad this is Kane's last night at DOO.

- Rollins vs. Cesaro:
I'm kind of tired of Rollins trying to get counted out, although it's an effective move for a heel. The fans want to see these two go 100 mph, so the heel should take that from them in a way that makes them want to see Cesaro "make" Rollins wrestle that kind of match.

These two can wrestle like no one's business.

Awesome stuff.

So, who teams with Cesaro to even things up? Enzo and Cass? I would mark like no one's business.

Bleh. Miz.

I really couldn't care much less about Paige splitting from PCB. They weren't together long enough for it to mean much of anything, and it feels like Paige has turned heel a number of times in her short main roster run.

At this point, it's really only interesting if Paige didn't attack Natalya. What if it was Team BAD, since they're left out of all this?

Not a bad setup for Paige vs. Nikki. I'm just not a huge fan of the faction thing.

- Nikki vs. Paige:
Nikki's really not a bad wrestler. That can't be stressed enough. She's not amazing, but she's definitely pretty solid.

This is getting pretty impressive.

Nice ending. Both ladies worked hard.

I couldn't care much less about relationship drama as an angle. It's rarely entertaining.

OH FUCK!! Prince Pretty's here!!

I think Breeze and Ziggler working together is natural. I wanted Breeze to be brought up as Ziggler's "cousin" or something at one point.

Not a bad debut at all. I hope there's more where this came from.

I liked the promo from Sheamus, Barrett, and Rusev.

- Sheamus/Barrett vs. Lucha Dragons:
It's always a treat to watch the Lucha Dragons. Their athleticism is amazing.

Good stuff overall.

Bo as our next U.S. Champion would be great. Cena would beat him in five minutes, I suspect, but it's nice to BOLIEVE.

- Bo vs. Ryback:
Good win for Ryback. Ryback vs. Owens should be good.

I love KO. I hope he does great things for the company.

- Reigns/Ambrose vs. Kofi/Big E:
This match is really missing with no Xavier. He makes New Day what they are.

I like this one so far. Reigns is best suited as the top of the midcard or a title challenger than the focal point of the show.

Nice match overall.

Fine ending. Looking forward to HIAC!

More wrestling coming up.

1 comment:

  1. HIAC predictions:
    - Unless Tyler Breeze costs Ziggler the match, I think the babyfaces win on the Kickoff show.
    - Charlotte retains.
    - Dudleys probably take the titles, which is kind of a shame given how great New Day is.
    - Owens retains.
    - Breeze was the initial rumored person to take the U.S. Title, but now some think Ambrose (maybe turning heel?). It would be really stupid to keep it on Cena while he's taking time off. Jericho's possible, but would seem kind of unlikely. They could elevate Sheamus or Strowman as heels if they win... lots of opportunities here.
    - Rollins retains and hopefully ends the feud. I'd personally love an Inferno match or something at Survivor Series, but I think people are tired of Kane's constant character changes. They can't recreate the Attitude Era Kane, sadly.
    - I'm picking Reigns, possibly leading to "Team Reigns vs. Team Wyatt" at Survivor Series.
    - There could be something in Brock vs. Taker to set up a match for Taker's career at WM32. Otherwise, I think the Beast wins.
