NXT and Impact Wrestling Reax - 12/9/15

Read on for my thoughts on last night's NXT and Impact Wrestling.
NXT:
NXT has been really sawft without Enzo and Big Cass. I like that they mean business with this entrance, after getting put on the shelf.

Well, here's your next create-a-tag-team from the WWEPC. Let's see what they're got.

- Enzo/Cass vs. Hollis/Skyler:
An angry Cass is not someone you want to cross.

Enzo's pretty fired up, too!

Fine match as far as showing the challengers are taking this really seriously.

Pretty strong post-match promo. I hope this act works out on the main roster.

I liked the promo from Dana and Emma until the head pat thing. Emma's one of the best characters in wrestling right now. She's motivated and ready to make a mark after not "making it" on the main roster.

It will be good to see where the Hype Bros and Blake/Murphy are after getting a break from them.

Tye Dillinger's about a 6. Outside of his gimmick, there's not much to write home about.

I love Asuka bringing something different to the table as far as females go.

WHO THE FUCK ARE ALL THESE NEW PEOPLE??

- Asuka vs. Deonna:
This is kind of clunky. Asuka's new to NXT and Deonna's new period, so it's not going super-well.

WHOA. You just got knocked the hell out, Deonna.

Painful promo from Mojo. Just.... no.

Good to see Alexa again, and those Freddy Kreuger costumes. So-so segment overall. Murphy in particular is really dry.

I like the idea that in the middle of a wrestling show, some dude just starts playing guitar backstage.

- Hype Bros vs. Blake/Murphy:
Mojo always looks like he popped Molly before appearing on TV.

Blake and Murphy still strike me as really "FCW." They just don't really stand out enough to be anything special without Alexa.

That was OK. Mojo, Blake, and Murphy are still works-in-progress. I hope having another match on NXT gave them some experience and notes of what to work on next.

Corbin's still lacking to some degree as a promo guy. Joe was good as usual.

Bayley's getting more confident and seems more in her own element. I'm glad they're fine-tuning her before rushing her to the main roster like Becky.

Peyton "Poison Ivy" Royce. I'm digging it.

- Bayley vs. Peyton:
Peyton's off to a good start in NXT, I think. She seems to be starting to find a role for herself here.

Bayley's a solid performer. I think the middle of 2016 is a good timetable for her to be called up.

Not a bad promo from Nia, although she had a lot to work with since the fans were pretty merciless about Eva.

I definitely want to see more from Balor vs. Crews. I think we're looking at a Balor heel turn before too much longer, so I suspect we'll get it.

Finn Balor looks like a real star. I can't wait to see what he does going forward.

- Balor/Crews vs. Joe/Corbin:
I'm excited for next week's singles matches with these wrestlers.

I really wonder what 2016 holds for Corbin. He seems a little out of place with these three accomplished guys, but he could still be an important part of things in NXT and WWE.

Balor's definitely got a bright future.

I like the Coquina Clutch looking like a lethal submission from an accomplished specialist. Finn is OUT.

Balor vs. Joe should be one hell of a match.

Impact Wrestling:
I love the recaps TNA does to catch people up on current angles.

- Lashley vs. Shera:
I like this just being an absolute brawl.

Shera does have some impressive strength. I'll give him that.

Good ending!! Lashley's definitely one of the best wrestlers out there.

Tigre Uno's going to get so rekt.

Not a bad Dixie promo, I guess.

I'm getting behind Jessie Godderz. I hope he does good things in 2016.

- EY vs. Uno:
That was a really a good opening sequence to get sympy for Uno and heat on Eric. Clever storytelling.

Uno put up a fight, but EY's pretty legit.

Nice stuff with the moonsault. It's weird to see EY as the veteran now, after watching him grow from the guy in Team Canada.

Uno's a really impressive athlete. I just wish he'd slow down.

This is getting some pretty good drama to it.

Really good ending sequence. EY's proven himself as someone who can carry matches and be a top performer for the company.

Nice promo from Matt. Matt vs. EY and Matt vs. EC3 (or Matt vs. Lashley) should really be something to watch. He's been an MVP for TNA lately.

I liked EY's heel promo. I wouldn't mind him being an important part of things in 2016.

- M. Hardy vs. Godderz:
Hardy's veteran instincts are really on display here. This is a worker in a world of highspot artists.

Jessie's not a bad "power" performer. He might have a good future after being "that Big Brother guy."

Really good ending sequence. Godderz showed some really good tenacity, and Matt was really good as always.

They're kind of having to stretch this show out, since there are just four matches. That makes sense. I really wonder what they're going to show in the weeks to come. They're almost out of tournament matches!

I liked Dixie putting over the three people who were in the BFG main event, although that's kind of history now.

Looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer to see this tournament conclude. I think it's the right move to do the last three matches live on Pop instead of showing canned footage on a lame-duck show.

I wonder if there will really be any feuds built outside of the tournament, or if we're just in for some filler stuff. The matches will likely be good, but the real storyline progression won't take place until they hit Pop.

I liked EC3's promo. Davey's was cringeworthy.

- EC3 vs. Davey:
Hopefully Tyrus splits from EC3 in early 2016. It's really time to do something new with him.

Davey as always is doing too many moves too quickly. It's like wrestling on speed.

That was mostly good as far as a wrestler vs. a moves exhibitionist. EC3 tried his best to make that an actual match, but that ROH "don't sell anything" mentality is still there for Davey.

Both semi-final matches should be really good. Same for the finale.

More wrestling coming up.
