WM33 update, more from the Flairs, preview of first Smackdown of 2016, Raw injury, Jeff Hardy update, Zeb note, Raw audience, and Questions on a Divas MITB, Bubba Ray as a top name in WWE, Stephanie getting comeuppance, turning Cena heel, and Reigns on SportsCenter

There is no confirmation of Wrestlemania 33 being held in Minneapolis, or anywhere else for that matter. While that's the popular speculation, it is not set in stone.

Ric Flair is set for next week's Raw. I expect him to be a semi-regular part of things for the time being.

WWE is advertising two steel cage matches for the Jan. 5 Smackdown taping. This will be the debut on USA. Cage matches used to be a really big deal. They're still pretty cool, though.

Charlotte is on the cover of Muscle & Fitness Hers. That's great! I think she'll be good for getting publicity for WWE after that and the Tapout spots.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Dean Ambrose received six stitches after Raw. He's one hardcore S.O.B.

Jeff Hardy will try to wrestle for TNA in January in a brace, but needs another surgery, and is expected to miss most of 2016. That's not good news for TNA. I think with Angle leaving, he's their top star. Hopefully Matt, Lashley, EC3, etc. can carry the load and make 2016 a big year for the company. They need it after an at times dismal 2015.

Jeff also said he'd like to work Hell in a Cell and headline WrestleMania before retirement. Naturally this suggests he intends to return to WWE at some point.

Zeb Colter will be starting a blog soon. I really hope it's in-character. In a world where Donald Trump could actually become president, "Zeb"'s political stances are topical and relevant.

Raw's audience was 3.38 million for the Slammys edition before Christmas. Hopefully things heat back up in 2016.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Hopefully not. The gimmick is already pretty heavily exposed; that would just water it down more.

2. God I hope not. He's better suited as a coach roughly in the middle of the card. There's a difference between being a top guy in the declining years of TNA and being a top guy in WWE now.

3. I agree on both points. Ideally there would be someone on the female side who would knock her down a peg. Maybe Nia Jax? She's part of the Samoan clan, too. It's not time to bring her up to the main roster, but someone needs to counter Stephanie. I'm assuming Ronda Rousey isn't an option for WM33.

4. Reigns isn't "the man" yet. He hasn't even been champ for a month. Cena's not getting replaced as a top face anytime soon. He's still way too much of an asset to turn heel.

5. I think "smart" fans need a continuity checker sometimes... It's not like he couldn't appear for SportsCenter if he was fired. I'm sure they'd love to have a former WWE Champion talk about being fired by Vince.

More wrestling tomorrow.
