Slaughter update, RVD taking time off, Foley update, Interviews with Hogan/Heyman, where's Ryback?, Cena hurt, original Raw plans, Bryan note, reliving the Shockmaster and Questions on Rey's WWE status, the X-Division, chicken heels and props in wrestling

Sgt. Slaughter has been released from the hospital as of Wednesday. Glad to hear he's better now.

Rob Van Dam has wrapped up his most recent run with WWE, with his final bout airing on the most recent Smackdown. He generally works about 90 days at a time, with the time frame agreed upon by both parties. There's no word on when he'll return next. Maybe the Royal Rumble or right after Mania again?

Mick Foley has recently has a case of extreme back pain, hence the operation. He posted about the pain recently on Facebook. I hope the surgery works out as he wants it to.

Everything else from Wednesday is after the break.

Hulk Hogan talked about his legacy, the nWo and more. The idea of the nWo ultimately being bad for heel characterization is a pretty intriguing one.

Ryback is expected to be out for a few weeks with some kind of injury. I don't anticipate a big RybAxel push when he returns, but you never know.

Paul Heyman talked about Shane Douglas dropping the NWA Title and more. Pretty cool read about that era. Heyman's idea for ECW was similar to what he pitched to TNA. I wonder what the current NWA thinks about Heyman saying it's dead.

Jake Roberts talked about his recovery. I'm glad he's stayed on the right path.

John Cena is dealing with nagging issues in his shoulder and neck. Well, he did take a whole bunch of German suplexes from the Beast Incarnate, BROCK LESNAR. I like Cena the wrestler, so I don't root for him to be injured.

One plan for Monday's Raw was Bray Wyatt taking out Big Show with Sister Abigail to spark a feud between the Wyatts and the team of Big Show and Mark Henry. They should have built Wyatt vs. Show and Henry vs. Rusev, but Cena was more important to them. It's a shame, really. Wyatt and Rusev should be given the chance to really be big deals. Knocking off more major opponents is the right way to do that.

Jack Swagger vs. Cesaro was set for Raw at one point, but that didn't happen. They can have awesome matches.

Daniel Bryan is no longer set for WWE's European tour. I can't say I'm really surprised. It's a real shame he's out for what should be the biggest run of his life.

Here's a piece on the legendary Shockmaster, including quotes from key players. Sting and The Shockmaster himself talked about the debut! It does seem like there was at least a rib involved. Booker's reference was pretty funny, since they couldn't actually talk about what he said.

For my take on Wednesday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Rey's still on the injured list, trying to get out of his WWE contract so he can work in AAA. I actually like the idea of Brock beating him to end his WWE career and build Brock's legacy as a heel, but I don't think WWE wants to acknowledge him right now. I think Rey might just try to stay out of action, even if he's 100%, and let his contract expire in the spring.

2. Possibly. There's also Homicide to add into the mix if they so desire. TNA definitely seems to be using the X-Division like it matters right now, but who knows how long that will last?

3. Brock works pretty rough, that's for sure. Cena is a long-time pro, though, so he's better at taking it than others would be.

4. I think WWE's goal is to set up the heel in question to be stuck in a situation where they can't run anymore (like the lumberjack match with Ambrose).

5. Much better than them using the real thing!

More wrestling coming up.
