Interviews with Punk/Austin, WWE visitors, upcoming WWE guests, former TNA name trying out in NXT, Del Rio to ROH, Takeover notes, and Questions on Punk-UFC, Stardust, Cesaro, and closing TLC

C.M. Punk touched on WWE topics in an interview about going to UFC. I suspect he's going to talk less and less about wrestling as he shifts phases in his career. Right now, that's what he's known for. I still wonder if he'll "pull a Brock Lesnar" and return in a few years to headline Mania. If that does happen, it will be years down the line. He's done with wrestling at this point.

Daniel Bryan was backstage at Raw. Remember when that guy wrestled? I'm ready for him to get back to kicking heads in and making people tap.

Adrian Neville will work the Dec. 26 WWE live event in Madison Square Garden. I wonder when we'll see him called up to the main roster. I honestly don't think he's ready from an "it factor"/promo perspective. He's a good high-flyer, though.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Edge and Christian will be at the Dec. 29 Raw. They'll likely be the GMs that night. That should be great!

NXT's Charlotte is booked for the Dec. 22 Raw. Maybe they can do a mulligan of her short match with Natalya. They should, anyway.

Former TNA name Crimson has been having a tryout at NXT. He's got a good look and some raw talent. I hope he does well if he still has what he had in TNA.

Stone Cold talked a bit about wrestling in a recent interview. I don't see him getting back in the ring.

Triple H answered some questions ahead of last night's Takeover special. Nothing especially newsworthy, although other sources are saying we're in for Taker vs. Sting at Mania, not HHH vs. Sting.

The former Alberto Del Rio has signed to Ring of Honor. So much for him making a splash in TNA in 2015. That's a shame. I was hoping to see him collide with Lashley, Roode, Aries, etc.. I think this is pretty telling of TNA's viability as a competitor to WWE in 2014.

Bull Dempsey beat Steve Cutler in a dark match at NXT Takeover. I guess that cut so something else could get more time. I don't really have any complaints there, as good as everything else was.

Backstage at the NXT special were Brian Kendrick, Adam Pearce, and former TNA Knockout Brittany. I'd be fine with Kendrick coming back to the company, and Brittany could certainly get a tryout. I wonder who else will try to jump to WWE from TNA in 2015.

Here are live notes from the Takeover special. It's cool to see new merch for the NXT names.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. That would make sense if UFC will pay for the rights to use it. It'd be pretty cool. It's also possible Punk wants to distance himself from wrestling, including with music. Who's to say he'll even be "C.M. Punk" when he steps in the octagon? He might emphasize his legal name more.

2. At that point, ECW had been out of business for four years. At least some people had moved on from those days. I know Joey Styles wasn't too thrilled with Awesome appearing based on his commentary.

3. "Cody Rhodes" has been removed from the WWE roster since Stardust appeared. Stardust's still pretty young and early in his career, so I wouldn't say we'll never see Cody Rhodes again. But for now, it's just Stardust.

4. Vince doesn't think he connects with the crowd in the right way... or something. He's leery of using him as a result.

5. Cena's match determines whether he can challenge for the WWE Title, so it would make sense for that to headline the show. I'm not of the belief the WWE Title ALWAYS has to close the show. There are special occasions like Brock as champion where it's OK for that to not happen. I'd close with Ambrose/Wyatt myself. They've earned that right. We've had more than enough of Cena at the end of the show.

6. He's got a limited time-frame to do something he's always wanted to do, and is now healthy enough to attempt it. I can't blame him for trying.

More wrestling tomorrow.
