Query on Sheamus, Interview with Jarrett, Memphis name passes, Brock commercial, WWE name retires, TNA Lockdown update, another match set for TNA in NYC, Smackdown segment set, and Questions on Rollins beating Cena in an "I Quit" match, What if Bischoff never took over WCW?, Rollins vs. Ziggler, and Rusev vs. Ryback

First up, a query:
1. WWE could easily be saving Sheamus' return for the Royal Rumble. They like to do a number of surprise entrants then, and he's been gone long enough for that to count. As far as I know, he'll be good to go by then.

Jeff Jarrett talked about building up GFW. The NJPW show will be a big step for the promotion. It'd be cool to bring together rosters of international promotions, and maybe some indies in the States, too? I'd love to see everyone get together to put on a solid product as an alternative to WWE.

Memphis territory name Al Greene recently passed away. He was notable in the '60s and '70s. PWInsider has a write-up of his career

The clip of Brock Lesnar destroying HHH's office from some time back is the basis of a new Hardee's commercial. That was pretty well done. Can we get a Paul Heyman commercial now?

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

As was alluded to on Raw, Christian is officially considered retired from the ring by WWE after having so many injuries and missteps. He remains under contract for another year or so, so he's not going to show up and start working GFW or anything. I've been a fan of Christian's pretty much since day one. He really became a valuable performer as time went on and he got really good at his craft. He always had fantastic comedic timing, and could work the crowd really well. His work will be missed. I hope he's headed to the Hall of Fame now that he's done as a wrestler.

TNA will tape Lockdown on Jan. 9 in NYC, to air on Destination America. An air date hasn't been announced yet, but the format of every match being in a steel cage will return. They need a lot of buzz for their first tapings, so I can see why they'd tape that big show then. Not sure what this means for the future of TNA on PPV, as they might still need to fill airtime in other markets with One Night Only PPVs. Will Slammiversary and BFG also end up on TV?

TNA also announced The Hardys vs. The Wolves for the Jan. 8 TV taping. They do pretty good stuff together, so I imagine that will be appreciated. I wonder what the future of Matt in TNA is; he works on a per-date basis currently.

Set for this week's Smackdown is Edge and Christian interviewing Bray Wyatt and Dean Ambrose ahead of their ambulance match. That match should really be something.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Rollins would need Mercury, Noble, Brock, Heyman, and Big Show (if not more) to get Cena to actually give up in a match. So, there was very little chance of it happening.

2. That's a really good question! I think there would still have been competition for domination of pro wrestling, but nothing like the level we actually saw. I'm not sure we would have seen the Attitude Era, either, unless business took a big downturn and Vince got desperate. Wrestling would still have changed in some ways, as sports/shows always do as time goes on if they want to remain relevant, but it'd be quite a different world of wrestling.

3. I wonder if they'll ever end up with an app. I know everyone thinks that's the way to go for the future. I wonder how an app for just the elite version of the site would work? They could charge for the app.

4. Well, the next PPV is the Rumble. I don't know if they could have built up that feud for that long, as talented as both men are. They've already fought enough for it to not mean what it should if they had a big gimmick match. Plus, both men belong in the Rumble itself!

5. I see it primarily as Rusev selling Ryback as a threat. Ryback's really gone downhill from the time he was challenging for the WWE Title, and needs some rebuilding to be seen as a threat to someone like Rusev.

More wrestling tomorrow.
