Read on for my thoughts on last night's Raw.
That was a pretty good opening segment. Just having the officials put together some matches and then getting out of the way so the wrestlers can do their own thing is nice. Jon Stewart being at Summerslam is pretty great, too.
- Orton/Cesaro vs. Owens/Sheamus:
Orton's really underrated. He doesn't do suicide dives and 450 splashes, but he's quite the solid technician.
Not a bad match overall!
I miss Taker's promos. I wouldn't want to hear them every week again, but he's been a good character for a long time.
I really want to see a Seth Rollins statue.
- Reigns vs. Harper:
Pretty solid stuff so far.
I like the reversals of powerbombs instead of people hitting a bunch of big spots like it's nothing.
Mostly a good match. I think Reigns is improving his game.
- Snuka vs. Lynch:
That got a little flippy and ran into the problem of trying to cram a lot into a short amount of time. But it was mostly fine.
- Rusev vs. Henry:
Not a bad match to continue Rusev's dominance. I don't know how necessary it was given how many times Rusev has destroyed Henry, though.
That Rusev flag is brilliant.
That was mostly a good return segment. We've got to be getting Lana vs. Summer Rae at some point, even if it's not at the level of Tamina vs. Becky.
Glad to see Coach involved with something WWE-related again.
Not a bad promo from Ziggler. I do think it would make sense for Lana to be involved in the ending at least given how she's the centerpiece of this feud.
I love Miz sometimes.
- Ryback vs. Miz:
Not an awful match to show Ryback's dominance. He's just supposed to be something of a force of nature.
Bleeehhhh post-match. I'm ready for this feud to end.
Rollins laying into the crowd is so much fun.
The WWE Champion's arrogance is also really good.
Rollins sticking it to Bryan is the icing on the cake.
Cena has a point about the fans not chanting about Rollins.
DAMN. Cena was actually a pretty good promo there. Less from him is definitely more.
Nice New Day promo.
- PTP/Lucha Dragons vs. Los Matadores/New Day:
Not a bad brief match to sell Sunday's show. That's what tonight's all about.
Fun promo with Barrett and Stardust. They're working well together.
- Nikki vs. Sasha:
These two play off each other quite well. I'm enjoying this.
Good match overall!
Nice post-match. Sunday should be a lot of fun.
God I missed the combination of Heyman and Lesnar. This is really fun.
Brock has been built as an absolute beast, something out of an ancient legend. This match should be one to watch.
Pretty big ending to the show. I'm HYPE for Summerslam.
