Hillary Clinton talks wrestling, Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan trade jabs, Questions on JBL, WWE Creative, replaying matches, and the Bellas, HHH, Evan Bourne, and Dixie Carter interviews, Christian update, DiBiase in FCW, and TNA star released

The U.S. Secretary of State has remarks about professional wrestling as it relates to America's image at this link. I think that if an Afghan general can't tell the difference between wrestling, Baywatch, and real life, wrestling's not the thing with the problem in that situation. The hypocrisy of her giving a speech to a wrestling audience in 2008 has already been pointed out, but she likely just made that appearance because her competitors did. For the record, I'd be shaking my head at this regardless of political affiliation.

The next story's kind of long, so I'm doing the break here. Bret Hart did a Q&A on Twitter, and there's a good deal to look at:

I never heard anything about a grudge between Hart and Goldberg, though I could understand if he had one after his in-ring career was pretty much ended by him.

I've done some digging, but can't find much on what actually happened to make Hart and Hogan not like each other. Numerous (credible) people have disputed Hogan's view of events in the past, so I'm taking what he says about the issues with some salt. For one thing, Bret Hart seems himself as a wrestler, whereas Hogan is identified more with the "sports entertainment" aspect of the business. It's a big split in ideology. But that's just part of the problem.

At WrestleMania IX, shortly after Hogan returned to WWE, he beat Yokozuna to become WWE Champion, Originally Bret Hart was in the main event, and lost to Yokozuna. Then Hogan came down and challenged, then won the belt. There's speculation that this wasn't the original plan, and that Hogan used his pull backstage to get the title that night. Some say that the unannounced match was a way of making up to the fans for what was seen as a dismal PPV.

Either way, when it came time for Hogan to drop the title, he didn't want to drop it to Hart and "pass the torch". Hart, like others, says that Hogan's an egomaniac and a con man. The stories of evidence of these allegations are numerous. Hogan disputes them, but members of the WWE Creative team and Shawn Michaels have brought up specific instances about this.

Anyway, the two of them had some comments back and forth today, with misspellings intact:
HitmanBretSHart: Hogan's nothing but a two-faced, backstabbing, steroid freak who deserved everything he got.
HulkHogan4Real: like attracts like,I feel bad for himwhen all that negative energy comes back into his life making him more unhappy. HH
HulkHogan4Real: Listen to where Bretts speaking from,it's funny he's done everything he's saying I did. HH
HitmanBretSHart: @ That's not what John Graziano thinks, dickhead.
HulkHogan4Real: Last and only comment for Brett,I hope he finds happiness in life,I feel bad for him and I have totally forgiven him much respect HH

I haven't heard any negative allegations towards Hart, so I'm not sure what that part's hinting at. That comment about John Graziano (who was paralyzed because of a car accident caused by Hogan's son Nick) was pretty brutal.

I don't really have much else to say on the Q&A, though I don't think that Michael Cole is THAT bad of a commentator. He's certainly no Jim Ross, though.

Moving on to PWInsider.com's questions of the day:
I see no reason for JBL to return to align with Del Rio. Del Rio's doing a good enough job on his own, and JBL doesn't want to return anyway.

The second one umm, wasn't a question. But I agree with the sentiment. I might be more harsh on TNA, but WWE has some important booking flaws as well.

As for the next question, that has happened to me, but I can't think of any specifics. I'd probably have thought a lot of things in '98-'03 were better then. And likely some underlooked matches too.

The Bella Twins turned heel after being rejected and somewhat "led on" by Daniel Bryan. I don't see how Buck Woodward can't make sense of how that'd tick them off and make them go heel. It's pretty straight-forward.

I don't have anything to add to the last question.

Triple H talks with Opie and Anthony at this link. Hilarious and informative (though NSFW) interview! He talks about his first angle with Stephanie McMahon, Katie Vick, Vince McMahon, The Chaperone, his injuries, Shane McMahon and jobbers.

WWE.com interviewed Evan Bourne as well. He hints to a feud with C.M. Punk. That is something they can do with him going into Mania. I'd probably put Bourne in MITB.

Ted DiBiase will be wrestling in a special match for FCW 3/16, teaming with his brother Brett. This is presumably a one-time deal. WWE stars semi-regularly make appearances for house shows, but a match isn't that common unless someone's being demoted. However, this is likely a case of them using him because of his brother. Goldust and Cody Rhodes made a special one-time match in FCW some time back, but still remained on the full-time roster.

Christian believes that he will likely be cleared to return to the ring by mid-April. As I've said before, he should go in MITB if he's available, but be a part of the Edge-Del Rio feud after Mania.

Long-time TNA employee Shark Boy asked for and received his release from the company. He had been used as a referee and road agent, but had only wrestled sparingly in the past months.

Finally, here are some highlights from an interview with Dixie Carter. Going on the road more and having more TV time are discussed as important steps in the company's future.

That's all for tonight. More news will be reviewed tomorrow night.
