Rejected WrestleMania 27 idea, Questions on Sheamus, chair shots, Jeff Hardy, and Jim Ross, more on WWE/Wal-mart, Otunga interview, Road Warriors HOF update, WWE-Braves connection, a look at Tough Enough, and some "non-news"

First up is a story I inadvertently skipped yesterday. WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper pitched a Piper's Pit between Rock and Cena for WrestleMania, but it was shot down. With Cena already in a match then, I can understand them not wanting to go that route.

Now that we've covered that, let's move on to PWInsider.com's questions for Wednesday. For the first one, I like Sheamus. I hope he stays around the main event level for a while to come. He's one of few wrestlers who has made it up the ranks that quickly that I don't think was pushed much too soon.

Not much to add to the second answer. I see why WWE is limiting chair shots to the head, if for no other reason than I'm sick of hearing people complain about people taking chair shots to the head. Why don't these people crusade against some of the crazy spotfests we see in wrestling, where you're much more likely to get injured? Chair shots are only part of the concussion problem, for sure.

After the break, why did TNA let Jeff Hardy compete at Victory Road? Then more answers and all of the day's news.

First off, yes when a referee or someone throws up the "X" with their arms, it means there's a serious situation (usually an injury) that someone in the back needs to address. How he got in that kind of condition in the few hours before the show is beyond me. Did he seriously take drugs or something while backstage at a PPV? Insane. And I don't know what Bischoff told Hardy or Sting for that matter. Some have said that Sting said that he wanted the match over when Bischoff approached him, which explains the quick finish.

I seem to remember Jack Swagger keeping security (and/or referees) at bay when he and Cole were working over Ross and Lawler. Or maybe I just assumed that. Maybe anyone who would have harmed Cole would have been fired, like Lawler would be. Actually, Cole had his own security force, didn't he? So anyone trying to save Lawler and Ross would have to get through them AND Jack Swagger, so maybe they didn't think it was quite worth it. Yes, I'm making excuses here.

Another Hardy-Victory Road question. Apparently they didn't know they'd need to change anything until Hardy was already in position to come out to the ring. And that being the main event, the other wrestlers could very well have been ready to leave by then (since they were no longer needed). So they were scrambling to try to save it. My guess is Bischoff and Sting worked out what to do when they were talking. Ending the match as quickly as possible was the right call. He was in no condition to perform, and would only have made the ordeal even worse if they let it continue further.

WWE Studios' deal with Wal-mart gives them exclusive license to sell their titles for 90 days after their releases. This only applies for their next 4 films (for now). Apparently the only reason they're releasing the movies theatrically is so Wal-mart will carry the discs. Hey, if it makes them money, I'm fine with such a small theatrical release.

The Chicago Tribune interviewed David Otunga. Pretty interesting. To clarify, the match he refers to as his first was only his first televised match. He had matches in FCW beforehand.

Dusty Rhodes is expected to induct the Road Warriors into the WWE Hall of Fame. Their manager Paul Ellering will be in attendance as well.

WWE is teaming with the Atlanta Braves for a WrestleMania night this coming Tuesday. GREAT cross-promotional idea. I'd love if someone (if not more than one person) cut a promo for the event before the game.

Here's a look at/preview of the revamped Tough Enough. I don't think it's a stretch to say that I'm looking more forward to how this goes down than how WrestleMania will. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for WrestleMania, but this is such a big unknown and a fairly new deal that it has a lot of interest for me as well.  And I already know/can guess to some extent how WrestleMania will unfold (Not that that's really a bad thing).

One last thing: there are a couple of stories every so often that I choose not to cover here because they're either not really newsworthy or there isn't much to say on them. Yet, some wrestling sites go gaga over them.

For instance, today Joey Styles tweeted about how he lost his passion for announcing because of WWE's relaunch of ECW. Even if that's not an exaggerated statement to get attention (and I'm not sure that it isn't), it's not really notable. We know he didn't like the relaunch of ECW. He's made it clear plenty of times in the past. About the only reason that it gets press is because he works with WWE.com, so you'd think that this could potentially get him into trouble. It almost certainly won't. If they let him cut the promo he cut in 2005 about the product ON RAW, they're not going to care what he says about them on Twitter. They don't see his opinion as important and think that people who agree with his viewpoint are in the minority.

Also, Bret Hart drew some somewhat disparaging pictures of Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair. While they're kind of funny, it's not really news that he's taking more shots at them. If something more important comes up in the story, like them responding or it getting more personal, I'll talk about it. Until then, it's just another news posting I waste time looking at when I could be reading (and blogging on) something more important and newsworthy.

That's all of my thoughts for today. I'll have more after midnight tomorrow.
