Mysterio talks retirement, book news, Questions on buying companies, the next breakout star, and Rock vs. Cena, Jericho and Sin Cara updates, Smackdown rating, C.M. Punk talks trash to NFL player, new WWE film, Raw dark match, and the next WWE Hall of Famer announced

Rey Mysterio shot down rumors that he's retiring soon on his Twitter page, saying that he has many years left of entertaining his fans. I have read speculation that he only has a few years left wrestling full-time in the past,  but I don't remember anything concrete (such as interview with him saying that).

The autobiographies of Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman have been delayed to better fit their schedules. Heyman co-wrote Lesnar's book, and they didn't want them released too closely. Also, they wanted to make sure that Lesnar would be available for interviews when his came out. Lesnar's book will be out 5/24, and Heyman's will be out 9/13. Both will likely be on my lengthy "to read" list.

Next, a look at today's PWInsider.com questions. First, they set the record straight on whether WWE tried to buy TNA or if WCW tried to buy WWE. I don't have anything to dispute their answer, though Dixie Carter has (perhaps jokingly) suggested that she'd be interested in buying WWE (which has virtually no chance of happening).

After the break, who's the next big star in wrestling? More questions follow and then more news!
My first inclination was to say that The Miz has that potential as a personality. But as I thought further, I started thinking that it might not be one star who breaks out and brings wrestling to new heights. With as many wrestlers and wrestling that's out there now, I don't think one person will change things as much as in the past. Also, while The Rock and Stone Cold were exceptional talents, they were helped along by other guys on top of their games. If it was just those two and not Mankind, Undertaker, Kane, Big Show, Triple H, Kurt Angle, and some others, they wouldn't have been as big. To use a comic book reference, Batman isn't THAT interesting by himself. It's when you put him in the mix with other strong characters like The Joker, Scarecrow, and The Riddler where things get really good. I hope that makes sense.

Rock vs. Cena at Mania is pretty unlikely. For starters, Cena won a #1 Contendership match in the Elimination Chamber, so he's slated to face the WWE Champion. Unless they didn't specify that the title match would be at Mania. Either way, Rock's almost certainly not going to wrestle, so don't get your hopes up.

Chris Jericho has been confirmed for this season of "Dancing With The Stars". He talks about a return to WWE and his thoughts on TNA here. I guess I'm ok with this, since presumably he wasn't planning on returning in that time period anyway. I don't know how long the show runs (and how long it will be before he'll be contractually able to return).

Update: The show runs until the end of May.  I don't know what happens if he's eliminated before the finale. Could he return to WWE immediately or would he still be under some sort of contract with ABC?

Sin Cara isn't expected to debut until after WrestleMania. I wouldn't have minded if he started in Money In the Bank. That is, if he's ready for that level on the card.

Friday's Smackdown did a 2.34 rating. Nice. That's the best the show has ever done on SyFy.

C.M. Punk talks about his interactions with a member of the Buffalo Bills at this link. Pretty comical if you like Punk.

A new WWE film will begin work in the Spring. It presently does not have any WWE superstars attached.

Percy Watson worked another Raw dark match, this time defeating Tyson Kidd.

"Bullet" Bob Armstrong has been officially announced as an addition to the WWE Hall of Fame, Class of 2011. Presumably his introduction video will debut later this week on TV. He still occasionally wrestles at 71 years old. Wow.

That's all of tonight's news. More to come after tomorrow's NXT finale.
