Not too much in the way of wrestling news today, but it starts off with some questions sent into PWInsider.com. Here's my take on them:
First, if there's a Money In The Bank match at WrestleMania this year, I see Dolph Ziggler, John Morrison, Kofi Kingston, Drew McIntyre, and Christian as candidates to win it. I'd be ok with any of those options. They're all THIS close to making it as potential future main eventers. Some are closer than others, but they're all upper-midcarders who have a big upside.
I don't think that Shawn Michaels needs to do any kind of run-in during HHH-Taker, especially since he's retired and won't be doing any kind of program with either post-Mania. The Rock getting involved in Cena vs. Miz is pretty much a given. The question is, how do you do it without having either or both competitors playing second fiddle to a triumphant People's Champion? Hmm... I guess you can have Miz win and then Rock take him out to send fans home happy?
After the break, should Michael Cole be removed from the announce desk? Plus more answers and news!
While I think that Cole's character is overused, I don't think he needs to just switch over to being a manager or the Raw GM. One thing people overlook about the GM suggestion is that it'd be pretty difficult for Cole to email the computer (or signal for someone to) without his fellow commentators noticing him doing so. Cole on a BlackBerry or something just before the GM's alerts would be pretty hard to ignore.
Anyway, I think that after King beats Cole in 3 weeks, Cole should have to tone down his heel antics. Maybe King hits him so hard that he "has a sore jaw" and can't be as boisterous? Either way, I say that he should stay on Smackdown so that he can't clash with King on commentary. Maybe have William Regal replace him on Raw? I'd like to have Matt Striker back on commentary too. Striker/Cole/Grisham MIGHT work. In theory, using Booker T. to enhance Superstars would be a nice move, but it'd seem like a waste to hire a big name just to do that. WWE's announcer situation is a mess. So many people and so many spots. My preference is not to have too many "loud" announcers on one team (Lawler, Cole, Booker, and Taz fit this role for me). One's ok, but two is overkill because they take over the broadcast.
Sorry for going so off-topic, but the opportunity presented itself.
I definitely think that Miss Elizabeth stands a high chance of going into the Hall of Fame if Randy Savage does. They just go together. It's a little bit like putting in the Midnight Express without Jim Cornette in my opinion. Not that I see any of those names going in anytime soon.
I don't know of any specific reason that WWE re-signed Scott Armstrong, but it probably has at least something to do with his father going into the Hall of Fame. Speaking of which, I wonder if his brother Road Dogg/BG James will end up back in WWE in some capacity? He's said a lot of anti-WWE things in the past and has a drug history, but I'm a little surprised that there hasn't been any talk of it.
Slam!Sports has more on WWE's new TV deal with The Score here. It's a 3-year deal. Interesting to note: They'll continue to show NXT, but a deal hasn't been reached about the Hall of Fame ceremony or Tough Enough yet.
Ric Flair missed a show for independent promotion WXW, affiliated with Harley Race. His scheduled flight was canceled and he didn't board any later flights. The "why" of this is currently unknown. At the last minute, WWE sent Ted DiBiase, Jr. there to make up for it. A strange circumstance indeed. If there's any more on this story, I'll be sure to cover it.
That's all for tonight's news. More to come after midnight tomorrow. Those of you in the U.S. remember to set your clocks forward an hour for Daylight Savings Time.
