Interviews with Brodus/RVD/Hernandez/Adamle, Brad Maddox resurfaces, Summerslam poster, Hornswoggle update, ex-WWE names come to TNA, WWE announcer gone, surprising BFG location, Questions on HHH's interviews, the Network, NXT, a cash-in on Sunday and WWE's biggest match in history

Brodus Clay talked about what led to his WWE release and more. I wish there was a brand split where WWE would be "forced" to use lower-level talents in more prominent roles instead of the same people multiple times a week for years on end.

RVD talked about MITB and more. Honestly, he always comes across as kind of a douchebag to me. His talk about being a villain and working the South vs. ECW was pretty interesting.

Hernandez talked about his work in TNA and more. It seemed like TNA always hit an impasse when figuring out to book him. The feud with Matt Morgan and winning the Feast or Fired briefcase were all he really got to do as a singles star. I think he works best as a tag guy, personally. I do think TNA should have called him or something once his contract expired instead of him finding out on the website!

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Brad Maddox did some videos about where he's been after being written off TV. So that happened.

The Summerslam 2014 poster is up, featuring John Cena and Brock Lesnar in addition to the new WWE logo. Many are reading this to mean Cena vs. Lesnar for the WWE Title at the event. While that's a definite possibility, I don't think it's set in stone. Just because they're both on the poster, that doesn't mean they'll be competing against each other. The Elimination Chamber 2013 poster had people thinking Rock was competing in the Chamber. Obviously that wasn't the case.

WWE.com looked at the post-WWE life of Mike Adamle. That could have been a longer piece. He really seemed out of his element during his WWE run, with a number of notable miscues to the point where it became a running gag of how out-of-place and perhaps ill-prepared he was.

Hornswoggle has shaved his head completely. I wonder what look he'll have when he returns?

Former WWE stars Gene Snitsky and Ezekiel Jackson have joined TNA, at least for the current tapings. Some surprising choices who don't really seem to fit the TNA style. But I think that could be what makes them valuable as heels: they represent the exact opposite of what TNA die-hards want.

WWE has released announcer Josh Mathews. That's a shame. If WWE's really going for a younger demographic, why are their top announcers all past the age of 40? I don't think 40's ancient or anything and I think Cole's underrated and can be fine in the right role, but the commentary on the main roster as a whole could use some serious rebooting. WWE should have passed the torch to some younger names like Mathews and Striker. Jerry Lawler belongs to a bygone era and JBL takes away more than he adds.

Update: Mathews was backstage at TNA's NYC tapings. He moves fast! I wonder if we'll see him there. Their team could use a new face as well.

TNA Bound For Glory 2014 will be in Tokyo, Japan on October 12. That's certainly a big move. I don't know if it's the right one, but it will be an interesting case study for the state of the company. They need some buzz right now and to show they're a major company.

Update: Here are photos from the press conference. I'd love to see a kayfabe press conference for this where Muta mists Dixie...

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. As much as I like HHH's character, I'd be bashing my head in if those segments got on TV. Non-wrestlers (or occasional wrestlers in his case) get more than enough TV time as it is.

2. I think WWE really overestimated how many people would be willing and able to pay to watch the Network. It's a damn shame, because, as was said, after buying something like a Roku, you get a LOT of content and significantly-reduced PPV prices. It's a bargain.

3. NXT isn't a national promotion. It's the minor leagues for the actual national promotion. Generally the wrestlers on the show are at least ready enough to have matches seen by that number of people in a small venue, and are on the way to being main roster-ready. The "preNXT promotion" is what they do on live events and at the performance center when not on TV.

4. I don't like the idea of two new WWE Champions in one night and blowing the MITB cash-in thta early. They'd have to do a damn good job justifying it in my book.

5. Tony Schiavone is still mocked for how much he hyped things in the dying days of WCW. They need the match to be a really big deal with Bryan gone, so I get why they're going into overdrive with hype. Of note, WWE could say the December match was the biggest match in history until this match came about and became the new biggest match in history. It's like how a record temperature somewhere could be 102 degrees, then once it hits 104 degrees, that's the new record temperature.

More wrestling tomorrow.
