Slammiversary changes, Patterson's announcement, WWE press, Twitter fight, Cena update, Impact audience and Questions on JTG, no-compete clauses, TNA tapings, WWE releases and the Wyatts

MVP has been declared unable to compete at Slammiversary. This wasn't a big surprise. It's a shame, though, given how this was one of TNA's biggest shows of the year.

Update: The main event of Slammiversary will now be Eric Young vs. the respective winners of Aries vs. King and Lashley vs. Joe in a triple threat cage match. Are they unable to bring back the King of the Mountain match? This would be a perfect time and place. EY vs. Roode would also be good.

Pat Patterson publicly came out of the closet on the finale of "Legends' House". This was well-known to those inside the business and those who follow it, but this was the first time it had been announced publicly. I'm glad he's at a place where he's comfortable revealing that. I hope he does write an autobiography.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

John Cena granted another wish. Great!

Curt Hawkins and Mark Henry had some back and forth on Twitter. Henry was celebrating his birthday and tenure in the company the same day Hawkins was released, so there was some tension there. I think it was just a misunderstanding and Henry didn't mean to rag on anyone.

John Cena is not advertised for this weekend's live events. He deserves some time off!

Impact's audience on Thursday was 1.01 million, very slightly up from the previous week. TNA was going up against the NBA Finals this week. The viewership hasn't been in a good place for a while now outside of the one-time jump for EY's title win. Slammiversary and the following tapings need to be a big step forward for the company.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. As was said, JTG was released later that same day. I also wonder how he stuck around so long despite not being used.

2. They can't appear on TV, PPV, etc. for any other promotion until those 90 days are up, so they're free to do indies. But they can't go to TNA until that period's done. I definitely wouldn't expect many (if any) of them to immediately show up there once their no-compete clauses expire, but some could certainly show up down the line.

3. They'll almost certainly tape multiple episodes a night, though things could be out of order and you won't have the benefit of some of the video packages.

4. I definitely don't think it's awesome. It's a sign of WWE's current financial unease and that's not really something to cheer.

5. I also think it's just a scream cut off.

More wrestling tomorrow.
