TNA star hospitalized, More TNA taping notes, AAA vs. WWE, TNA stars in Wrestle-1, Interviews with Del Rio/Foley/Jey Uso, Impact audience and Questions on the state of the business, the WCW Hall of Fame, Kurrgan, old logos and PPV buys

Ethan Carter III went to the hospital after a recent TNA taping, requiring a number of staples from being busted open hardway. The NYC tapings definitely have a hardcore vibe to them.

The Thursday night TNA taping is being praised as one of the best events TNA's ever put on. I'm glad they're turning things around in that regard.

Spike executive Scott Fishman was present at a recent TNA taping. He's had a long-term relationship with TNA. I suspect the taping went a long way in determining the future of TNA on the network.

Company morale was up after the NYC tapings, which is also good. The crowd was said to be really into what was taped.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

The Thursday night TNA taping was a legitimate sellout. Following their recent attendance woes, that's got to bring some sighs of relief.

Update: The Friday night taping also sold out in advance. TNA pulled out all the stops to get fans interested.

Reby Sky, Matt Hardy's wife, visited at some of the TNA tapings. She lives in the area. I wonder if we'll ever see her on-screen?

TNA held a number of tryouts before the Thursday TV taping. It'd be nice to see some new faces there.

It's possible TNA tapes in NYC and/or PA more in the future. Getting out of Orlando is a nice change of pace for them.

Mexican promotion AAA will be running TripleMania on iPPV up against Summerslam on traditional PPV. I'm not sure how wise that is, but maybe the big gamble pays off.

Set for an upcoming Wrestle-1 event on July 6:
- Ethan Carter III and Rockstar Spud vs. former WWE/ECW star Tajiri and Yusuke Kodama.
- The Wolves vs. Junior Stars for the TNA Tag Team Championship
- Sanada vs. The Great Muta for the TNA X-Division Championship
The matches will still go on as non-title matches should the champions lose their titles before then. I think it's really cool TNA stars are working in Japan like that.

Alberto Del Rio talked about MITB, being a heel and more. I agree about heels wanting to be cool. I'd be surprised if Punk came back soon. Pleasantly surprised, but still surprised. I think he's legitimately retired.

Mick Foley talked about Daniel Bryan and more. I can just imagine what Vince thought when he got that text message.

Jey Uso talked about his history in the business and more. I can totally see Rikishi destroying a Chinese buffet.

Impact's audience on Thursday was 1.14 million viewers. So a lot of the fans who tuned in for the post-Slammiversary show tuned back out. I think the shows from NYC will have a big boost, though, and that's better than most of EY's title reign.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. That's a false dichotomy. Just because it's not in an upswing, that doesn't mean it's in a downswing. I think right now it could be best described as being in a state of flux. Where things go from here with the WWE Network, TNA's deal with Spike and "emerging" promotions like GFW, AAA (in the U.S.), ROH, DGUSA/Evolve, etc. will determine if we're in for a new boom period. Other than the losses and roadblocks of the Network, I don't think WWE's really in a downswing as much as they are just having difficulties moving to a new era of things. The next few years with the Network and with the further progression of NXT will determine their future.

2. I don't see WWE putting them in just because they were WCW Hall of Famers. It'd be nice to include some of those names down the line, but the WWE Hall of Fame is pretty much an attention/ratings-getting tool in a number of ways. Names like Thesz belong in there, but the casual audience has no idea who he is.

3. Yeah, his name pops up as an actor every so often. Good for him!

4. I don't think I'd mind if they were used for an anniversary, but I also like the more slick, modern logos.

5. As much as WWE hoped otherwise, not everyone's jumping on-board with the new technology. Change is scary for some people who don't see the need to change from buying things on PPV. It would definitely be much cheaper to get a Roku or something and just pay the $9.99 a month, but I can see some older fans who aren't as tech-savvy holding out and watching PPVs.

More wrestling tomorrow.
