Former WWE/World Champion returns, Interviews with Ambrose/Batista/Dallas, WWE signs Devitt, TNA-Spike update, Hall of Famer at WWE live event, another Hall of Famer training, Smackdown audience and Questions on HHH's friend Mark, improving the Network, WWE's sets, the Benoit movie and Lana

Big Show returned at this weekend's live events, beating Cesaro. I want to see a Giant Swing on Show really badly now.

Dean Ambrose talked about Kenta, Sting and more. In order:
- As far as him and Rollins "not having a match" at Battleground, that's technically true. But they still were involved in a lot of action. If they never made any contact or were totally pulled from the card or what have you, I'd be more upset. But they really tore into each other.

- I think having Ambrose in a cowboy outfit would be hilarious, but it's not something they should do. I'm glad he has the freedom to grow in his own direction, though.

- NXT is quite different from the Lucky Cannon days of FCW. I didn't hate Cannon, but he's no Sami Zayn or Adrian Neville.

- I'm glad Ambrose is learning so much from the varied teachers in WWE. There's a wealth of knowledge to pull from there.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Batista talked about his WWE future. The WM crowd would boo the hell out of HHH vs. Batista, a rematch from ten years before. Both men should be near the end of their wrestling careers at this point.

Fergal "Prince" Devitt has been officially signed to WWE and is headed to NXT. To say this was an announcement that got people excited would be an understatement. He's got more than ten years of experience and nearly 800 matches to his name. At only 33, that's an amazing resume. The jacket and body paint are really awesome. I hope WWE lets him keep a lot of what made him stand out in the first place.

Update: Devitt was interviewed on his signing. Needless to say, this is a big deal.

Update: TMZ has a photo of Devitt at NXT. I wonder when we'll see his first match?

Bo Dallas talked about making it to the WWE roster and more. I'm very glad he and Bray aren't Bo and Duke Rotundo anymore. I don't think the two characters need to interact anytime soon. When they do, it should be for a good reason beyond "they're brothers behind-the-scenes".

Dixie Carter and Bob Ryder disputed yesterday's story of Spike not renewing Impact. Viacom also said negotiations are still ongoing. So, it's possible Impact will remain on Spike past October after all. As of this writing, no new deal has been announced. It's a very important time period for TNA.

Bret Hart was visiting at WWE's recent live event in Calgary. I wonder which NXT wrestlers are his favorites.

Booker T. is holding a training seminar soon at Northeast Wrestling. I wonder if any future WWE/NXT stars will be trained by him there.

Smackdown's audience last week was 2.72 million, notably down from the previous week. I wonder if bringing back the brand extension and making Smackdown a distinct entity would help its ratings.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. One important thing to note here is the amount of fans who actually got the "Mark" reference is probably pretty small compared to the audience as a whole. That said, I do want to see more (and greater) pushes for talents like Wyatt and Cesaro. They're hardly being buried and things are better for newcomers than they have been in the past, but WWE needs to keep passing that torch from the people who have main evented for a decade or more.

2. WWE probably doesn't pay too much attention to websites like PWInsider and their suggestions. They have so many experienced people under contract, they probably think they already know enough (or can find it out) without consulting journalists.

3. I think the set design, etc. can add to a presentation and would like to see more done there, but WWE is in no position to increase expenses right now. I don't see them going that route.

4. Yeah, WWE is not going to go anywhere NEAR that one. Except maybe with their legal team. Part of me wants to see it (if it's done well), but I hope it's not just a ploy for money by using a controversial name.

5. If there was enough controversy about it, I could have seen the character being scrapped. But ultimately she is just playing a role she's been given and the responsibility has to fall on someone higher up.

More wrestling tomorrow.
