New GFW partnership, HHH talks JR, Sting at WWE event, WWE @ SDCC recap, WWE stars in comic attire and Questions on Punk leaving, why WWE pushes Cena, Kenta's chances of success and Cesaro's direction

Global Force Wrestling has announced partnerships with five European promotions. Jarrett's connections are really helping him out. Having access to wrestlers in a number of key international markets puts him in a big position to succeed. I think it's too early to talk about him being serious competition to WWE or TNA. All this is great, but he'll need a national TV presence if he's going to make a dent in the U.S. market.

Triple H paid tribute to Jim Ross as his contract came up. JR was the voice of a generation, for sure.

Sting appeared in full costume at WWE's Comic-Con booth. That's really, really cool.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Here's a recap of WWE at SDCC. Sting's got to be wrestling after that, right?

WWE stars were re-imagined in a comic book style. Some of those are really amazing. I'd like to see some more involved attires for wrestlers. Maybe not THAT involved, but some wrestlers are rather unexpressive and it hurts their odds of keeping fans' attention.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. If you look at it exclusively from a money and dream matches perspective, Punk definitely could have done some cool things if he stuck around. Punk vs. Kenta? Punk vs. Zayn? Punk vs. Devitt? Potentially Punk vs. Steen? There are some cool possibilities out there. I don't know if we would have actually gotten Punk vs. Bryan at WM31. Even if we did, I would have been surprised to see it headline over Taker, Brock, HHH or Cena. I just don't think Punk and Bryan are quite as over as those names (or, at least, if they would have been at WM31). Either way, Punk is almost definitely not coming back and it's really time to accept that.

2. All of that's correct. He does a lot of good for the company, and I can't blame them for going back to that well. But it's obvious it's time for some other top acts to shine. Especially if Cena suddenly was unable to compete for a year or something.

3. I definitely think he could get Punk chants if he does "Punk's moves". I really doubt Kenta coming in had anything to do with Punk leaving. As for borrowing moves, it depends. An American wrestler doing something in homage to a Japanese wrestler is one thing, because the vast majority of WWE fans had never heard of Kenta before he was signed (most fans probably still haven't heard of him). But Bobby Roode doing the Attitude Adjustment is pretty obvious because it's a move taken from a more popular wrestler in the same part of the world.

4. Presumably they don't have a direction for him right now. It's hardly the first time.

More wrestling tomorrow.
