Main Event Reax - 7/15/14, what happened after Raw, more on Sting, Heyman DVD preview, indy cameo on Raw, Rock/Cena III?, WWE injury updates, Heyman+Cesaro update, Russo confirms working at TNA, Raw audience, definitive Punk update and Questions on transportation, indies on the Network, Jerry Lawler, Ryback and Punk

Main Event:
Was it that hard to make Miz a hated heel again? I wonder how much Y2J's return had to do with Miz getting a reboot. Either way, I think that was a pretty good segment. Miz can be a pretty good heel when they let him (see: his whole run leading to and following WrestleMania 27).

WOW! I truly expected WWE to be bitter and throw Emma under a bus here. Props to them for not being petty. It would have made sense to have Cameron win to set up her match with Naomi, but I'm not complaining about Emma getting the win.

Good post-match to set up Sunday's match.

Good tag match from the participants in Sunday's battle royal. They're all talented.

I missed this version of Miz. He just didn't work as a face, even with Flair in his corner.

Sheamus vs. Miz was pretty good. I look forward to more action on Sunday.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
After Raw, Seth Rollins was carried off. Cena and Reigns then faced off with the Wyatt Family. I definitely think they're building Reigns as the new #2 face with Bryan and Punk gone.

Chris Jericho vs. Luke Harper is set for Smackdown. That could be REALLY good. Harper's going places.

There was a lot of excitement backstage when Sting was announced for WWE 2K15. A lot of current members of the WWE roster grew up watching him. If Sting appears in a WWE ring, even if it's a non-wrestling segment, will be one of those historical moments for the business everyone remembers.

Update: Sting will be available in both his classic "surfer" look and the "Crow" look in WWE 2K15. That's still pretty cool.

Update: Here's the official press release for Sting in the game. It's a shame this isn't the Phenom edition of 2K14. Ministry Taker vs. Crow Sting would be awesome.

The Rock has been talking to Vince McMahon about another return match. I think that would be a big draw, but another Cena feud would be torture from a promo standpoint. They've already used all their material against each other.

Here's a clip from the upcoming Paul Heyman DVD. ECW really pushed things for sure. I miss their attitude in some ways. It wasn't just thumbtacks and fire and barbed wire and all that. I think that's what some people miss when remembering the company.

EVOLVE's Caleb Konley was a Rosebud on Raw. I like that he has a new crew of partiers for each city.

Bray Wyatt's eye was blackened and swollen shut after being punched by Ric Flair as part of this weekend's live events. It was drained before Raw. He isn't expected to miss ring time.

Seth Rollins is fine after Raw. His injury was a work designed to put the focus on the competitors in the WWE Title match. That's a clever move.

Other than a bloody lip, Dean Ambrose is fine after being beat down on Raw. So, Ambrose vs. Rollins is a go for Sunday.

Bad News Barrett isn't expected to return to the ring for several months after his shoulder injury. I see him returning just as a new champion thinks they're in the clear.

Paul Heyman was kept apart from Cesaro on Raw to shift the focus back on BROCK LESNAR ahead of Summerslam. Lesnar will face Cena at the event. Where does that leave Cesaro?

Raw was at 4.15 million viewers this week, down from the previous week. Not a huge drop, though. Nothing to really worry about.

Vince Russo inadvertently confirmed working for TNA when he mistakenly forwarded a work email to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com. Russo tried to cover it up, but later issued an apology. I think it was pretty well known he was working there, but he was legally obligated to say otherwise. Russo made an honest mistake, and I don't think TNA should be too harsh on him for it.

WWE officially moved C.M. Punk to the Alumni section of their website, signalling an end to his tenure there. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone with his contract coming to an end.

Update: Punk responded to #ThankYouPunk trending on Twitter. It was our pleasure, Punk. I wish him the best in whatever he does now.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I know WWE has offices in other countries, so that could be the specific place they keep some things. That's a pretty interesting question.

2. WWE wants it as the WWE (and WWE-owned properties) Network, not the "WWE and unaffiliated indies" Network. I would think WWE would want creative control or whatever for what other promoters put on their network, and would probably rather just sign the indy names they want and have them wrestle in NXT than to air indy promotion stuff that probably has a niche audience. I think it'd be pretty cool if they worked something out with indy promotions to air stuff, but I don't know how well it would go over on either side. I could see WWE defenders hating the decision because it's not WWE content and indy fans attacking their favorite promotions for "selling out" and no longer being independent. It's a nice idea in theory, but I'm unsure of its chances of success.

3. Don't let his modern commentary fool you. Lawler's Memphis was really old school, and a sharp contrast to today's business. Wrestling used to be a LOT more protected and rough.

4. Ryback's rise coincided with Punk's long title reign. Punk vs. Rock leading to Rock vs. Cena was pretty much set in stone, so I think Ryback was going to be doomed either way. He certainly had a reputation of being reckless, and that hurt him as well. As for Reigns, I think WWE's pretty set to protect him as a top guy. Things are even more dire now than they were when Ryback was being pushed.

5. The ball's in Punk's court as far as that goes. I can see it happening, but it won't be anytime soon.

More wrestling tomorrow.
