Interviews with Brodus/Paige/Y2J, TNA drops oft-ignored title, latest on GFW, Network notes including anticipated show debuting, WWE looking for more Aussies, WWE project on Hall of Famer and Questions on Ryback, Paige vs. AJ, rebooking MITB and the fallout to Cena's win

Brodus Clay talked about his WWE release and more. I actually liked Brodus being vocal in the ring. I also think we're seeing something of an indy scene revival, at least as far as there being some prominent indy names out there and a good number of places for them to work. Naturally quite a few of those indy names have gone to WWE or TNA. I think WWE's goals with the Brodus/Woods angle were just to give an out for Tensai to move to commentary and to bring Woods up to the main roster because they like using him for public appearances. I think it worked on those two fronts.

TNA, through Kurt Angle in his new on-screen role as director of wrestling operations, has declared the TV Championship "inactive". In other words, after nearly 400 days of Abyss being champion without defending it, the title has been retired. I think that's a good move as small as the TNA roster is nowadays.

Jeff Jarrett continues to be in TV deal negotiations for GFW. There's really no update on when this will see the light of day, but they've got some big names attached (namely Toby Keith). I'm taking a wait-and-see approach on how it actually turns out.

Everything else from Thursday is after the break.

It's believed GFW could make use of a six-sided ring. Some believe TNA went back to that to one-up Jarrett before he gets on TV. What the ascension of GFW means for TNA will be interesting to see going forward. Obviously right now TNA has a national TV deal and GFW doesn't, but that might not be true by the end of the year.

WWE's long-awaited "Monday Night War" series will debut after Monday's Raw. I can't wait to see it, but I'm sure it will be a pretty slanted take on things.

The next episode of WrestleMania Rewind will focus on C.M. Punk winning Money in the Bank at the event. No, this doesn't mean he's coming back. In fact, I expect his contract to expire by the end of the month.

Paige talked about her family history in wrestling. Was it that hard to fact check how to spell Natalya?

WWE is reportedly seeking more Australian talents. It will be more important to expand internationally in the years to come. I still can't believe they tried to fire Emma.

WWE will be filming footage in Memphis for an upcoming Jerry Lawler piece. That will be cool. He'll be getting in the ring with Scott Steiner on July 10. It will be interesting to see if any of that footage airs.

Sam Roberts interviewed Chris Jericho. Glad to see Y2J back feuding with Wyatt.

For my take on Thursday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I don't see Ryback being a feasible opponent for Goldberg after how far he's fallen. If anything, it would make more sense for the match to just be something of a squash for Goldberg after Ryback gets fed up with the chants and calls him out. I'd actually be OK with that if it was built well. Goldberg could get a better final sendoff than WM20. Maybe he's announced for the Hall of Fame before WM31 and that's what sets up the feud? I don't know if the Ryback/Goldberg connection would be relevant by WM32 (and that's when Taker should go in).

2. Paige even acknowledged the situation was a take on the original segment. I think this could play out well. Paige as a heel sounds intriguing.

3. I don't think WWE would use one of Brock's precious few appearances unannounced. Cena and Orton are more or less safe bets as main eventers, but WWE's getting behind some other names as being in that league.

4. I definitely think we're in for a wave of cancellations due to Cena's win. If it is just a transitional reign for Lesnar leading to Bryan, Reigns or Cesaro becoming champ from the man who ended Taker's streak, I think it's a good move for the long-term.

More wrestling later.
