Main Event Reax - 7/22/14, Query on Hunico's bodyguard, post-Raw dark match, WWE on Daily Show, Otunga note, TNA-Spike update, TNA attendance, Matt Hardy update, Impact lineup, another show without Cena, former Divas' Champ at Raw, why Jericho was taken out backstage, Raw changes, Raw audience, NXT lineup and Questions on Cena's character, title wins, Ryder's shows, WWE shilling and Vince helping ECW

Main Event:
I liked WWE setting the stage with the footage from Battleground.

Good match for Rollins to get a win after Battleground. And he didn't even need Summer Rae or Layla working with him!

Good match to keep setting up Rybaxel as challengers, but it cut into the Usos' momentum after their big win at the PPV.

I think there's some potential for entertaining stuff from SlaterGator. I'm glad they got a segment to set up their match.

Alberto vs. Reigns should be good.

That was a good match to get momentum for Kofi and Big E. I was initially against the stable, but if it furthers the careers of Kofi, Big E and Xavier (and anyone else involved), it's good by me. Kofi needs a new direction and Big E needs some experience. This works for both.

Good Swagger/Zeb segment. It's crazy how relatively easy it was to make them faces.

Funny SlaterGator segment. I think that pairing could work, but Titus joining Xavier's stable seems likely. I'm not a fan of the "put all the black people together" feel to it, but it could be the best thing creatively for those involved right now.

Ambrose vs. Cesaro should be great!

That Lana promo was fine. I'm glad they're not totally abandoning the push.

I was a little disappointed with that ending, but the match was a solid physical encounter. Rusev's fine for looking physically dominant. I think there's a sizable chance we end up with Rusev vs. Cena down the line.

Good post-match to continue Rusev vs. Swagger.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
In response to a recent query sent in:
1. Hunico's bodyguard was the recently-released Camacho. Camacho is the son of Meng (Haku).

After Raw, Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose was turned into a tag match with Kane and Reigns involved. Reigns and Ambrose won. No surprise there. I hope we're not in for Kane vs. Big Show coming up with Orton supposedly feuding with Reigns for Summerslam.

Jon Stewart referenced the Rusev/Swagger feud on "The Daily Show". That's pretty cool. I'm glad he didn't try to bury wrestling. I wonder what kind of crossover there is between that audience and WWE's.

David Otunga will be on ABC's "General Hospital" as himself on July 30. I'd be polishing up that acting resume if I was him, because it doesn't look like WWE's going to do anything with him as an on-screen character anytime soon. He would have been a good mouthpiece for the Xavier/Big E/Kofi faction, but I think WWE probably sees more long-term value in Xavier right now as far as being a wrestler goes.

TNA continues to negotiate with Spike for a new TV deal. The hope is to be able to announce something before the next set of TV tapings.

TNA drew 550 fans to their Friday live event and 725 to the show on Saturday. Those numbers aren't terrible considering some of the numbers they had at some other recent events. They're still in a slump, though, clearly.

Matt Hardy has wrapped up his commitments with Ring of Honor, so he could be sticking around in TNA. I don't know how much more they can get out of Hardy Boys reunions, but there's definitely a market for the brothers teaming.

Set for this week's Impact:
- TNA Knockouts Championship: Gail Kim vs. Taryn Terrell
- New York City Streetfight: Tommy Dreamer and Team 3D vs. Rhino, Rockstar Spud and Ethan Carter III
- Falls Count Anywhere: Bobby Roode vs. MVP
- The Great Muta vs. Robbie E
- Gunner and Mr. Anderson vs. Magnus and Bram
- Low Ki vs. DJ Z

That could end up being quite the card. I could also see it being trying to cram a bunch of stuff into one show.

John Cena won't be at Smackdown due to filming. That's fine by me! Save him for the next Raw and let others have the spotlight.

Former WWE Diva Kaitlyn was visiting at Raw. I don't picture her coming back. She's got a lot going on that doesn't involve wrestling. Paige vs. Kaitlyn would be so great, though.

Update: The Rock's mother was watching from the front row. Was she the one who gave him that turtleneck and leather fanny pack?

The backstage segment with Chris Jericho and Bray Wyatt was filmed Sunday so Jericho could go promote his newest CD Monday. I'm OK with that since it furthered the storyline and got heat on Wyatt. I'm still hoping Wyatt goes over Y2J at Summerslam.

There were a number of rewrites to Raw. Original plans were for Roman Reigns vs. Rusev and Bo Dallas vs. The Great Khali. I can't say I was itching for Bo/Khali 2.

Raw's audience Monday was 4.43 million for the return of BROCK LESNAR. That's the highest number in roughly three months, and for good reason. I think Brock's return could be big for WWE.

Set for this week's NXT:
- Adrian Neville vs. Rusev
- NXT Women's Championship: Charlotte vs. Summer Rae
- The Ascension vs. Jonny Vandal and Aaron Solow
- Tyler Breeze vs. Mojo Rawley
- Kalisto and Sin Cara vs. The Vaudevillains

That could also be a pretty good show. A few notable omissions, though. Where the heck is Bull Dempsey, and what's next for Sami Zayn and Tyson Kidd?

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. This question feels removed from reality. As was said, while there are people who come to shows to boo him, I also don't think it's a majority. They might be louder in their boos than the kids cheering, but Cena's definitely still the top babyface. It's not exclusively his call on whether his character is changed, either. He'd have to get approval from Vince. Vince is smart enough to know that a heel turn for him would mean lost money from merchandise (there's no way Cena haters would buy that much in heel Cena merchandise). As for his current angles, it's more about preventing Cena from being champion than who will "finally" beat him. Starting at Summerslam 2013, he's lost PPV bouts to Bryan, Orton (three times including Elimination Chamber) and Bray Wyatt.

2. The WWE Title is definitely higher on the totem pole than the other titles. It depends on the creative plans and how far in advance they're known.

3. I wouldn't be surprised if there was heat from the office for it, but there hasn't been anything to state that. Ultimately WWE had lightning in a bottle and didn't make the most of it. I don't see him reaching the heights he reached previously anytime soon. It might take him bailing on WWE and going somewhere else and drawing them money before WWE snaps out of it. They probably see him like Triple H's friend Mark going on the Internet and complaining.

4. Umm, the WWE Network and video games heavily involve wrestling. The merch is merch for wrestlers. Of course they're going to hype that stuff, because it is part of the product. WWE is a business and they're going to try to make money from it. All that said, the shilling is excessive at times and does take away from the product (especially when a segment pretty much just exists to sell toys or something).

5. I think Vince saw ECW as a place to get talent in the battle against WCW, and that's why he helped them. If Impact started pulling in five million viewers a week and drawing WWE talent away, I could see him being willing to work ROH or EVOLVE or someone in a similar fashion. Realistically I don't see it coming to that and people like HHH would have a say in it, but I think if he got desperate enough, he'd be willing to do just about anything for business.

More wrestling tomorrow.
