WWE Battleground preview

Read on for my ideas on booking tonight's PPV.

Pre-show:
I think the smart way to go for the Divas' division, based on where it is now, is to build Cameron as a heel challenger for AJ. I think they can get a lot of momentum from Cameron as a heel. She makes a great foil for AJ. However, AJ vs. Paige deserves AT LEAST one more PPV match, so this feud should continue for a while. Naomi gets the win with the Rear View after Cameron fixes her makeup. Cameron's not a great wrestler, but I think she can get by.

Apparently Adam Rose is facing Fandango on the pre-show, too. Rose wins due to Layla and Summer Rae distracting Fandango by partying with the Rosebuds.

Battleground:
There's a great opportunity to tell a story with Paige vs. AJ. I'd have them start off as "friends" just having a match to see who the better wrestler is, but Paige gets more and more frustrated when she can't put AJ away. AJ catches Paige with a surprise Shining Wizard to get the win. She offers Paige her hand after the match, but Paige won't take it. Paige apologizes the next night on Raw and AJ grants her friend a rematch (I know. I hate giving away rematches the next night, too). This is when Paige finally snaps and turns heel by attacking AJ.

The Usos and Wyatts have an all-out war. Wyatts win in fall three. I think I'd actually have the Usos win the Wyatts' respect by putting up so much of a fight. Instead of beating down the Usos after the loss, I think I'd have the Wyatts nod to them or something and let them have the ring.

Cesaro wins the battle royal. He'll need something to do while Heyman's tied up in another angle. He can eliminate Khali last for the big test of strength.

Swagger's able to get Rusev in the Patriot Lock, but Lana hits him with one of her shoes to save her client while the referee is distracted by Zeb. It's the age-old story of Lana being about to do something dastardly, Zeb telling the referee and the referee's attention being on Zeb instead of Lana. Rusev wins via Accolade. Rusev vs. Sheamus for the U.S. Title at Night of Champions is my plan.

I think I'd have Jericho get the surprise win over Wyatt when Wyatt gets too heavy on the mind games. It won't be hard for Wyatt to get his heat back.

Rollins and Ambrose do their thing. Rollins blasts Ambrose with the briefcase to save himself from a clean loss.

Orton and Kane can't get along, so Cena's able to keep the title from The Authority. I'm not a fan of it, either, but it makes sense to keep the angle moving forward. Triple H instructs Orton and Kane to attack Cena to set up a Rollins cash-in. They do so, but blame each other for not being able to take the title from him. Reigns spears HHH, Ambrose prevents Rollins from cashing in and the show closes with Cena being taken out by Plan C, BROCK LESNAR. Cena misses Raw as a result (to go film his movie), and we're off to Summerslam.

Set for Summerslam:
AJ Lee vs. Paige in a No Holds Barred match for the Divas' Title.
Rowan and Harper vs. Goldust and Stardust for the tag team titles. This is going on the assumption Goldust is sticking around for a while longer.
Rusev vs. Jack Swagger in some kind of cool gimmick match (not a flag match).
Cesaro vs. Sheamus in a Champion vs. Champion match (this could be the pre-show match)
Bray Wyatt vs. Chris Jericho
Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins
Randy Orton vs. Kane
Triple H vs. Roman Reigns
John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship

More wrestling tomorrow.
