TNA Lockdown thoughts

Read on for my thoughts on TNA's latest PPV, as it happens!

Well, that's one way to do something different for a cage match, brawl around and THEN go in there.

Not a good start for Anarquia's PPV (pre-show) in-ring career. So much for him looking like much of a threat in the ring.

Fact check time on Daniels' promo: the guys in Fortune only did some of the work building TNA, and I'd argue that it didn't have much of a name until they got the SpikeTV deal, which they got because of some noticeable name value (Sting). Matt Hardy actually flirted with the idea of coming to TNA back in 2005 when he was in-between WWE runs. In fact, Jeff Jarrett went as far as to reference Matt on-air at the time. This was before the SpikeTV deal; Impact was being streamed online because they didn't have a TV home. As far as Flair goes, I do seem to recall him taking a shot at the company years back.

Anyway, back to kayfabe-land. Nice show of athletic maneuvers and quickness that won't mean jacksh-t in a few days because they'll all be back taking a backseat to the usual suspects on TV.

Like Eric Bischoff! Talk about timing. I wonder what shenanigans we'll get in the main event tonight.

Why does Steiner get mic time? My only guess is the (unintentional?) comedy of it.

This is just ridiculous. I hope they served alcohol there because apparently TNA Creative partook in some beforehand.

Hohoho, Madison made a reference to Internet sites. It's Russo-riffic!

This was bad. Maybe TNA's new gimmick is that every PPV has a match that ends insanely quickly because they don't know how to book replacement matches. How hard would it have been for Tara to hurt Madison before the match and/or distract her so Mickie could get the win?

Matt Morgan's trying to go back to the World Title, so I say he gets buried in his match. Even if he does well, TNA will change their minds next week on who should be in the World Title picture.

Kick-ass match between Joe and Dinero. TNA's workers can pull out some solid matches when they're not booked stupidly. Look for these guys to not progress much either.

Another pretty good match with some weird "interference". Why didn't Devon help Morgan here? If people were pushed on workrate, these two would be moving up the card for sure. TNA has some good workers that WWE dropped the ball on or couldn't get, and TNA needs to use them well.

Kind of indifferent on the post-match shenanigans.

Whoops, I thought the first match was pinfalls only. My mistake. That'd make too much sense.

Great first fall. These two can turn it on when need be.

Angle should call his RKO the KSA for his own initials. Although, you know, it's better when wrestlers don't go out of their way to remind us of other wrestlers not in the company.

TNA camera fun again. Man, what did wrestling promotions ever do without this great, innovative camera work? Oh right, they focused on what was going on between the wrestlers.

Man, this match is exciting, glad they started involving people I don't want to see involved in it!

They're trying to set a record for ref bumps tonight, I think. Amazing match when it was about Jarrett and Angle (and to some extent Karen).

No wait, it's a record for run-ins they're going for. Not impressed with the title match, due to all the shenanigans. On one hand, I like that they're not changing the title around too much, but this would have been a nice time to have Anderson get a big win. Then keep the title on HIM for a while.

If we were to get Sting vs. Hulk Hogan, that'd be a combined 109 years of age. 110 if it's at Bound For Glory. They started wrestling a combined 60 years ago. We've had plenty of chances to see what they can do. I can't be the only one who wants something new here.

Another running gag for TNA is apparently how many times they can show Flair blading.

Explosive end to the show. Talk about your chaos. At least Lockdown ended right.

That's all for my thoughts on Lockdown. I'll have a news post later tonight.
