TNA has filed to trademark "Impact Wrestling". The idea is apparently to promote that term in synergy with the show, not focusing as much on the TNA name. The company continues to look at how it's marketing itself.

Mick Foley is scheduled to return to TNA during next week's Impact tapings. As noted, he still has a number of months left in his contract.

Chris Sabin did indeed tweak his knee in his match against Anarquia. More updates when I get them.

TNA is releasing a DVD called "Immortal Forever?" on 7/19. Interesting...

TNA posted a video featuring a number of promos following Impact.

Here's an interesting note: WWE will tape Smackdown on 5/3 in Orlando, FL at the same time that Impact will be taping just a few miles away! This has happened before, though, and I don't remember there being any significant interactions between the two sides.

PWInsider.com has an update on a lawsuit filed against them regarding the entrance music used by Floyd "Money" Mayweather at WrestleMania 24. WWE has some good points. Heck, them using his song at WrestleMania could be the best thing that ever happened to it judging on how little revenue it's allegedly made.

And speaking of  PWInsider.com, they have some new questions today, which I'll address after the break (along with the rest of Friday's news). First up, what was the deal about Jimmy Hart not going to WrestleMania this year?

This one could have been worded better. Jimmy Hart actually did go to WWE this year, and is still there in some capacity. However, Hogan tweeted that he would be managing Jerry Lawler at WrestleMania, which didn't happen. He later clarified that it was a "mark rumor". It was only reported as possibly true on major sites because of his tweet. He apparently got it from a less-credible site, of which there are many out there apparently. Remember the saying about "fooling me once" when you come across a news source that has a lot of "stories" that later amount to nothing. And not just wrestling news sources for that matter. Anytime that I doubt something's credibility, I make sure to point out that it's a rumor BEFORE someone asks about its credibility. That's if I even post it.

For #2, they were all good. Austin vs. Rock wins as far as biggest rivalry and chemistry they had. They were wrestling's biggest stars then, so any clash with them was epic. Not to discount the others there, though.

I don't trust myself to answer #3, given that I've only been watching WWE since WM14 or so. I have consistently heard bad things about the two they mentioned, though, to the extent that some claim that they changed the ending to WM9 because it was going on so badly.

#4's always a tough one. In-ring performances are combinations of a lot of things. How well you click with your opponent, when you do big moves and how you build to them, etc.. Angle and Jericho are certainly on the list. I'd throw in Shawn Michaels, Chris Benoit, and probably Eddie Guerrero as well. I'm sure I'm missing some people. AJ Styles, though? I liked him for a while when I had never seen much X-Division stuff, but outside of that style his matches don't impress me that much. A phenomenal in-ring performer can work with anyone and still shine. I just don't see that with AJ.

For #5, as for splitting The Corre(... I see what you did there), it seems like it'll happen sooner rather than later. I'm mostly ok with as  long as it works better than the split of, say, the Hart Dynasty. I think Barrett has definite main event potential, Ezekiel can get there if everyone plays their cards right, and Gabriel can be a solid midcarder. I might keep Slater and Gabriel (or "Slabriel" I've see them referred to as) together for a while, because I just don't see that much in Slater. Especially on the mic.

The Orlando Sentinel has a look at NXT's Titus O'Neill here. FCW head Steve Keirn speaks highly of him.

Speaking of FCW, Vickie Guerrero visited at the latest tapings. Her daughter (who goes by Raquel Diaz) does ring announcing there.

Christopher Nowinski gave a speech on concussions covered here.

Following its very limited theatrical run, "That's What I Am" will be on DVD, Blu-ray, and Netflix on 5/17.

WWE's stock value is continuing to decline following the release of their new dividend policy.

Mick Foley will appear for TNA's house shows this weekend.

Rima Fakih says in an interview with BuzzFocus.com that she was cut from Tough Enough because she fractured her ribs. I wonder how well she would have done were she not injured. She could end up in wrestling or acting down the line. She's only 25, so she has a good deal of time to figure it all out.

Variety Magazine is reporting that the tally for WrestleMania 27 has already passed 1 million buys. The strategic use of older stars, and crossover appearances with other mainstream shows is cited as what boosted the buyrate. Final numbers are not yet in.

On a side note, estimates by some online reporters were saying that the show would likely only do around 900,000 buys. Once more the "experts" get it wrong. Negativity and mislabeling opinion as fact only sell if people keep buying.

Jim Ross had a noteworthy interview recently. He says that he didn't get his hand in a cast because he'll need to grip the straps in Sunday's Country Whipping match. Presumably the match will feature the straps at all times, similar to a Singapore Cane match. He also noted that his Bell's palsy was a bigger factor moving him from announcing than was Michael Cole. Edge's retirement was also discussed, and Ross speculated a number of roles for his future.

In addition to his recent FCW work, new Smackdown personality Jinder Mahal worked in the Calgary area in one of the final versions of Stampede Wrestling earlier in the decade.

Here are details on a special fundraiser for WWE Hall of Famer "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff set up to help offset some of his medical bills.

WWE has co-launched a new anti-bullying campaign. You can read about it here.

Thursday's Impact did a 1.09 rating. Note that there was (seemingly) less focus on "established" people this week. But that's ok! It takes a while to build new stars and thankfully the rating didn't tank, so hopefully they'll continue to take some risks in who is featured. Not to mention that it's cheaper to not use the major names as much.

Rap pioneer Grandmaster Melle Mel will be getting "physically involved inside the ring" at UWF's first PPV, according to PWInsider.com. I can't be the only one who was hoping for Flavor Flav.

Kurt Angle is going to train to make it into the 2012 Olympics. I wonder what happened to him going to MMA... anyway, if he actually is able to do it, then good for him. That'd be pretty cool.

Finally, Vince McMahon has made a sizable donation to Mick Foley's charity drive to assist RAINN. Those two have an interesting relationship, for sure. I applaud both for their charity work.

That's all for Friday's news. I'll have more this weekend.
