Impact Wrestling rating, weekend house show notes, Savage's brother recap, Lesnar undergoes surgery, Questions on Christian, PPV buyrates, HHH's future, "revealing" things, and covering MMA, Warrior talks Hogan, WWE scouting in Mexico, wrestlers open YouTube accounts, Stratus raising money, new Impact Wrestling video, top lucha name signs with WWE, and Bob Orton talks Savage

Impact Wrestling did a 1.19 on Thursday night. Not too bad.

Percy Watson worked this weekend's Raw house show. AJ and Jinder Mahal worked the Smackdown show in what I believe was Mahal's first match in WWE (he's been in FCW). I look forward to seeing how the 3 of them "cut it" in the company.

Here's a recap of Lanny Poffo's appearance on Hillbilly Jim's radio show, where he speaks about his brother Randy Savage's funeral.

Brock Lesnar had surgery on Friday which removed 12 inches of his colon. He isn't expected back in the UFC until January 2012. Ouch. Hopefully this is the last time he has to go through something like this.

PWInsider.com has some new questions up. Here's my take on them:
1. I really don't know how much more there is to say on this subject. It indeed would have been nice if Christian held the World Title longer. I actually think it helped him to finally grab the brass ring, as long as he's played up as a former World Champion and consistently treated as someone near/at main event status. I would guess that he could have a chance as champion again, but it could just be in a transitional role. If injuries and retirements and the like keep up, his chances could go up.

More answers and news after the break, starting with why PPV buyrates are down.
2. You're right. I mean that's why Star Wars episodes I-III did so poorly. Who wants to watch a movie series when you know how it's going to- Oh wait, they drew over a billion dollars. But that's a fluke, right? I bet Superman Returns bombed because everyone knew Superman was going to- nope, over $390 million. It does have some correlation, but as long as people are entertained by the product, they'll keep tuning in. WWE would indeed be served better by having more main event-level players, and they're aware of this. To say it's just Cena and Orton is a gross oversimplification. Here's who else was in a PPV WWE or World Title match in the past year, starting with Fatal 4 Way '10 and going to Over The Limit '11:
Rey Mysterio, Jack Swagger, C.M. Punk, Big Show, Sheamus, Edge, Kane, Undertaker, Wade Barrett, Chris Jericho, The Miz, Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Jerry Lawler, John Morrison, and Christian. And that's not even counting some of the big matches that weren't for the title. Most of those guys were portrayed as credible challengers even if they didn't win. I agree that things could be better in the company, but they're hardly as dire as they've been in the past.

3. What do you mean there wasn't a storyline? Triple H interrupted Taker's return and challenged to try to end the streak. No storyline is what you get on Superstars a lot of times. He's mostly transitioning to his job in the talent development field. He'll probably do that most of the time until Undertaker comes back. The point is that if he "loses his career", he can't come back full-time ever in storyline, whereas now he theoretically could if he wanted to.

4. It's still kind of revealing what the plans or whatever are. I get what you're saying, but it's done to make things sound more interesting and more of a big deal. There's a big difference between "click to find out who the Raw GM is", and "Raw GM's identity revealed!". It's an advertising thing.

5. Because people are interested in MMA and will go to their website if they report on it as well. I'm not going to start covering it here, but I'm sure there'd be interest in the site if I did. I'm sticking to what I know, though.

The former Ultimate Warrior had some choice comments for Hulk Hogan recently. Maybe he'll have a rap song on him like Savage did?

WWE's looking into hiring several new talents from Mexico. That market's really doing well for them. Hopefully the wrestlers they hire are solid workers. I'm okay with talents of all races, nationalities, and creeds as long as I enjoy their work. By that same vein, I won't give anyone different treatment (positive or negative) here just because we're from different countries, races, etc..

Update: They've signed Averno, a top heel in CMLL and one of Sin Cara's main rivals. Interesting.

Update: Averno being signed is actually linked to Sin Cara. Since most in WWE haven't adapted to his style yet, he was asked who he'd like to face and that's who he chose. Averno wishes to lose his mask in a match in Mexico and come in as a heel without it. That could be a cool setup. Hopefully WWE can adapt with the two of them, and the two of them can adapt somewhat to the WWE style.

Tyler Reks and MVP have opened up their own YouTube channels.

Trish Stratus is promoting a charity.

Here's TNA's latest "wrestling matters" video, featuring Jeff Jarrett. I liked this one, even though I'm not so sure it'll ring true.

In other charity news, former WWE Tag Team Champion Domino was involved with a big one for a young homicide victim. That's pretty cool of him.

Finally, WWE Hall of Famer Bob Orton briefly talked about Randy Savage to a St. Louis news station.

That's all for Sunday's news. More to come tomorrow!
