New WWE Studios film to be made, Questions on the Draft and MVP, smoking in the UK, and "weak" finishers, Morrison injured, more on Helms and Sabin, Australian TV ratings, MVP interview, WWE movie changes name, news on Hall's health, new TNA Gut Check, Flair legal update, Smackdown rating, Austin to be on Raw , correction on Brett DiBiase, and an ex-WWE wrestler does Raw dark match

WWE Studios is getting geared up to film a new movie in June. It's a horror movie and sounds much more engaging than their last few releases.

Update: Variety has more on this and other upcoming WWE films.

Up next, PWInsider.com's questions. Nothing to add to #1, so we'll jump to #2. I agree about the Draft, but I can see their reasoning. I think the best time to do it (were it not for the situations with Edge and Undertaker) might be in the summer. After the Mania dust settles and they go through the rematches, shake things up then. Just an idea though. I wonder why they never went back to the "one Superstar switches brands for each show from Raw and Smackdown for 4-5 weeks in a row" idea they did once. I thought that was genius. I guess they're going for a big change really quickly.

As for the part with MVP, I'm fairly certain that he WANTED to leave WWE for Japan. If he was willing to return, I wouldn't be against them trying him out in the main event picture. I don't think they're "desperate for talent", since they are building up some new stars. More certainly wouldn't hurt if they were used right, though.

For #3, I'm surprised that there hasn't been anything about a fine for R-Truth or WWE. The entertainment rule makes sense; I've seen exceptions made for actors smoking in the past.

More answers and news after the break, starting with a discussion of "lame finishing moves".

To add to their answer, all those moves were/are treated legitimately, so I don't have much of a problem with it. It's not much different from a Vulcan nerve pinch being portrayed as devastating. It's all in suspending your disbelief. You could point to the People's Elbow and Atomic Leg Drop among others that don't look particularly devastating but were treated as such a big deal that they still got over to a large degree.

And for #5, basically what they said.

As mentioned on Raw, John Morrison is taking time off due to a neck injury. He had surgery before the show. He didn't work any of this past weekend's house shows, despite being advertised.

Update: The surgery was successful. He's expected to be back in 4-6 weeks. The injury was a pinched nerve.

Shane Helms' ex-girlfriend Velvet Sky has opened up a Twitter account, and is seeking donations for Helms after his accident. Very nice of her to do. She also noted that current boyfriend Chris Sabin recently underwent knee surgery.

Update: TNA has posted footage of Sabin being evaluated backstage post-injury.

Update: TMZ has a story on Helms' crash. There's speculation that he was intoxicated.
In Australia last week, WWE Raw drew 26,000 viewers, and WWE Smackdown drew 21,000. Considering the top show there only had 274,000, that's really not that bad.

Former WWE Creative team member Dave Lagana has part one of an interview with MVP up today. Sounds interesting.

Update: Here's a snippet. As I thought, he was the one who decided to leave WWE. The shift from saying "wrestling" is rather silly in a way, though I get why they do it.

The next WWE film featuring John Cena has had its name changed from "Blood Brothers" to "Family Reunion".

Kevin Nash and Dana Hall have rather depressing updates on Scott Hall's health.

TNA has a new Gut Check scheduled for June 25 in Troy, OH. Application details are at the link.

There will be a hearing on the Ric Flair-Highspots.com case on 5/24. Things could go quite badly for him on that date.

Smackdown's rating on Friday night dropped substantially to 1.73. Despite being the show after a big title change, it was going up against the NBA Playoffs and the movie "Iron Man". It will be interesting to see what this means for the show and its talent going forward.

Stone Cold is being advertised for a special appearance at the 6/13 Raw taping. That's a 3-hour Raw the week after the Tough Enough finale, so he's got to be making an on-air appearance.

WWE did not release Brett DiBiase, as was earlier reported. He is being transitioned from a wrestler to a referee following his knee injury last year.

Trevor Murdoch worked a dark match before Raw, losing to Evan Bourne. Note that Murdoch doesn't live in the area.

That's all for Monday's news. I'll have more following midnight after NXT.
