Questions on Flair's TNA run, TNA's "network", and WWE's branding, posters for upcoming PPVs, Best of Nitro trailer, UK ratings, Extreme Rules dark match, Monday's Tough Enough guest stars, McCool update, and Cena breaks important news

Sunday's news started off with the questions sent in to PWInsider.com. The first asks if Flair's TNA run has devalued him as a wrestling icon. I agree with their answer to this one in a sense. I think when you look at the whole scope of Flair's career, he's definitely still a legend and icon and all of that stuff. But, I also think that "in a perfect world", his in-ring career should have ended with the match with Shawn Michaels. I think there's some  truth in the adage about you only being as good as your last match or last major run, and Flair's just not the same guy he used to be out there. I think to a degree he still has something to give to the wrestling industry, but it shouldn't be as a wrestler as far as his legacy's concerned. The "footnotes" to his career feuding with Lethal and Foley I was mostly ok with from a story perspective, (though the hardcore match with Foley was kind of hard to watch), but by-and-large I haven't been thrilled with his TNA run. However, he needs the money and TNA's willing to pay him. Fans still tune in to see him, so it's going to continue.

Given that Foley's been used at house shows and will be at the next Impact tapings, it's certainly possible that he's the person behind the network. It's a guess, though, not a spoiler as far as I'm aware! That would be another older wrestler talking and not wrestling, though. I'd be ok with it (note that I pitched the idea of him being a part of the legal issue between Hulk and Dixie) as a short term "get things on track so we don't need all these old guys talking" idea.

#3 must be psychic, because WWE used the KFC metaphor themselves in the recent stockholders' meeting! Yes, it's a good metaphor. I actually like the grilled chicken somewhat, but that's neither here nor there.

They would know more about 4 and 5 than I would, so after the break I'll go to the rest of the day's news.

Barack Obama came out to Hulk Hogan's old "Real American" song at the Correspondents' Dinner. There were even some Hogan images in the video he used.

There are some new PPV posters out now:
WWE Capitol Punishment features Randy Orton. The synopsis mentions Edge appearing, but it's entirely possible that they sent that in months ago and forgot to change it or something.
TNA Slammiversary has a number of "TNA Originals", yet the synopsis focuses on Flair, Hogan, and Sting.
UWF First Blood has Homicide. Their debut PPV will only be an hour long.

WWE has a trailer up for their best of Nitro DVD, focusing on Diamond Dallas Page losing, then winning back the WCW Championship on a single episode. It also has an appearance by current TNA World Champion Sting.

Here's a look at WWE and TNA's recent ratings in the UK.

Sin Cara beat Tyson Kidd in the dark match before Extreme Rules.

Rey Mysterio and ex-basketball star John Salley will make appearances on this week's Tough Enough.

Michelle McCool is indeed taking time off from WWE. I haven't yet seen how long she's expected to be out.

Finally, related to the major news story I was distracted with, John Cena announced to the Tampa, FL crowd of Osama Bin Laden's death, news that made plenty of people worldwide happy.

That's all for Sunday's news. I'll have more tomorrow.
