Questions on the end of Nexus, Jericho changing his character, and Taker at Mania, Tough Enough to air in Canada, Lesnar book excerpts, Piper interview, WWE dirty deeds, B. Brian Blair update, JR talks about Lesnar's condition, why Steiner won't be at Sacrifice, Raw and Smackdown from Mexico this fall, Impact (Wrestling) rating, venue for UWF First Blood, and a rumor about D'Angelo Dinero

Friday's news starts with PWInsider.com's questions. For #1, I think WWE could have done more with the original Nexus, especially when they had Cena in the group. Once Cena took them out and outsmarted them, things went downhill for the group. As for the New Nexus and Corre, the former's pretty much run its course (maybe if they had a different name?) since they're not the same level as the original group. Orton did a good number on them. It's close to being time to split them up for good. As for The Corre, I think there's still some juice (apple, naturally) left in them. I'd be surprised if they made it through the summer though. Even reboots and lineup changes only do so much.

Nothing to add to #2 that hasn't already been said. We'll see if there's "something bigger" afoot in the weeks to come.

As for Jericho, characters do change and evolve over time as they said. The bottom line to me is whether or not the change is enjoyable. Besides his early character changes, he went from the Rated R Superstar persona to more of the Ultimate Opportunist role, then became a bit of the "old guard" in his feuds with Ziggler and Del Rio near the end. Rock has changed some of his catch phrases; Austin wasn't coming in stunning people and drinking beer promoting Tough Enough. He was more of the "old guard" trainer role against young upstart Miz. Granted, those things weren't as big of a change as Jericho's heel turn. They did have him in a rehash of his face character when he first came back, but it didn't get over nearly as well as heel Jericho. In the end, that's what's most important. What gets over long-term.

More answers and news after the break, starting with who I'd like to have seen Undertaker face in their primes.
Rock or Austin, definitely. But WWE always put them in other matches to spread the big names around on the card. We did see Taker face both of them at non-Mania events, though. Kurt Angle would have been great, too.

For #5, I'd go with Orton and Batista. They're pretty much the only ones on the list with much gas left in the tank ring-wise (and I'm not sure about Batista since I haven't seen him wrestle since his hiatus).

Tough Enough will begin airing on The Fight Network in Canada on 5/23. Sucks that they haven't been able to see it beforehand.

Some excerpts from "Death Clutch" have been posted to promote the book. Talk about Kane wearing a mask seems like ancient history. I already have this on my long "to read" list.

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper was interviewed about his upcoming role in a DC Comics animated film and more. Sounds intriguing.

WWE has a look at the Top 25 dirty deeds done in its history. No word on how many were done "dirt cheap". It's a very good read. There are even some sly remarks about WCW and some current TNA workers.

Those wanting to know what B. Brian Blair is up to these days, Slam! has you covered. No mentions of Iron Sheik.

Jim Ross has a blog looking at Brock Lesnar's medical condition and his own experiences with it. Sounds pretty bad. He also talks about the unlikelihood of a full-time WWE return for Brock.

Scott Steiner was already booked at an indy show for Sunday, and that's why he wasn't made a part of Sacrifice.

WWE has officially announced that they will tape an episode each of Raw and Smackdown this October in Mexico. That's pretty cool, and good for business.

TNA Impact or umm... Impact Wrestling (that's going to take a while to get used to) did a 1.27 rating on Thursday. Pretty nice. Over 1.8 million people watched the show. Hopefully that translates into PPV buys and continued good business for them. And obviously I'd like the product to be better, too.

Here are venue details on UWF's first PPV event. Unless they get a national TV deal following the event, that will be the last I mention of them. There are other promotions with PPVs and the like, and I'm trying to focus on the major (televised) ones.

D'Angelo Dinero is rumored to be done with TNA, based on his Twitter posts. At first, I hoped this was true so he could possibly go to WWE, but as I think about it more, it would actually be better for the business if both companies had a good number of good stars people will pay to see. But, in the end, if Dinero isn't happy with TNA or vice versa, he shouldn't be forced to stay there. In a way, it sucks that a mediocre competitor is seen as better than having no competitor, but theoretically low ratings and business in the long run (which could very well happen if TNA doesn't build up more stars to see) would hopefully spark a change for them. But this is premature speculation. I'll have more on the story when more is known about it.

That's all for Friday's news. The post for Saturday's won't be nearly as late.
