Questions on Trent Barreta, Angle in the Olympics, Stephanie on TV, Austin returning to the ring, Edge's future, and Santino Marella, UWF press release, Trump-WWE mention, TNA using Impact Wrestling name more, TNA live chats with wrestlers, Miz MLB appearance, HHH and Nunzio updates, change to WWE contracts, more on Tough Enough-FCW, Shad Gaspard update, and inside WWE Creative

First up today, someone's curious as to the future of Trent Barreta in WWE. I haven't read anything either way on him. I know that he's working Smackdown house shows, and is listed on the FCW roster so he could be working there regularly as well. WWE is hard to predict with its talent cuts at times: they could be having him improve by continuing training now, but if push comes to shove and they feel the need for roster cuts, I wouldn't be really surprised if they cut him. I like him alright, but I think he still has a ways to go to move up the card. A nice worker with spunk, but missing the push creatively and (possibly) the "it factor".

PWInsider.com also has questions:
1. I know I give some "non-answers" a lot, and this isn't really different. "We'll see" is about the best conclusion I can give. Sorry. If he can pull it off, though, good for him.

2. Nope. Well, at least not full-time. The McMahons are much more off-camera these days, in addition to what they said. I definitely wouldn't rule out a future appearance, though. But I would have said the same thing with Linda and Shane before they left the company.

More answers and news after the break, starting with whether Stone Cold will return to the ring for one last run.
3. I really doubt it. Like really, REALLY doubt it. That was an "if he was in dire straits financially" possibility, or so I took it. Maybe a final match or two, but anything beyond that seems farfetched.

4. There's been plenty of speculation (but nothing concrete) on something else for Edge to do with WWE. I'd say it's likely he'll end up working there in some way, shape, or form at some point. They'd be foolish not to! And for now, it definitely looks like Edge will stay retired. As they mentioned, he had talked about not having much left in his career in past interviews. He's smart to quit while he can still go hiking in the Asheville mountains.

5. I kind of doubt it, at least not a serious contender BASED ON WHERE HE IS NOW. It'd take some time for "serious Santino" to get over. He's not bad in the ring, but it's much safer to stay where he is now. He's getting over pretty well, and I don't see WWE trying to change that.

Here's a press release for UWF First Blood.

A clip of Donald Trump's WrestleMania 23 appearance was shown on a bit on the Late Show with David Letterman.

TNA has changed its Facebook and Twitter names to reflect the change to Impact Wrestling. The company is still TNA for the time being.

TNA has announced a "Director's Cut" chat focusing on past X-Division matches. Oh boy, I can see that chat room getting all kinds of comments. Good idea in theory, but it seems like it would lead to people complaining about the X-Division not being used among other things.

The Miz threw the first pitch of Wednesday's Dodgers/Giants game.

Triple H is featured on a list of talent in an email promoting July's Money in the Bank PPV. Interesting. Maybe it would be good for a short term ratings and buyrate boost while other matches on the card build up new stars. It worked with The Rock!

Nunzio has officially signed on as a referee in WWE. He's distracted me a time or two from what's going on in the ring just by being a familiar face. It's been almost 3 years since he was previously in WWE.

Here's a story on WWE's return to a Canadian market after 7 years.

WWE has changed its contracts, now requiring all signed talents to have their own medical insurance. I has mixed feelings on this when I first read of it, but after reading the linked story, I don't see a problem with it.

Booker T. and Bill DeMott have been confirmed for Thursday's FCW taping with the contestants of Tough Enough.

Shad Gaspard auditioned for a role in the second G.I. Joe movie. Cool. He definitely resembles Roadblock.

Finally, a former member of WWE's Creative team gave some insight into that job. Interesting read. Note the shots the Torch takes at Creative, which is why I consider them more an opinion site than a news site at times. Sometimes there's a reason things need to be done week by week, like if an angle totally bombs or someone's injured, etc.. Having a basic idea going from one PPV to the next would certainly be helpful, though. Start building the top matches ASAP, and introduce the others as best as can be done once the top ones are in the motions.

That's all for Wednesday's news. More to come tomorrow.
