Interviews with Robbie E/Sheamus/Cesaro, TNA close to TV deal?, Smackdown dark match, Steen-NXT update, note on recent NXT release, a public Taker appearance, Impact audience, Jake Roberts update, and Questions on Reigns, shooting tag matches, WWE remembering the past, and Rusev's future

Robbie E talked about the future of TNA and more. Viewership is in-line with earlier episodes of Impact, but not in line with the increase they sustained for the NYC tapings. As for TNA's tag team resurgence, Team 3D could be wrapping things up at BFG, and Richards is injured. So, the resurgence was rather short-lived. There were some hard-hitting matches coming out of the tag team title series, though, so that's something.

Sheamus talked about potentially facing Rusev and Brock Lesnar, and more. Sheamus vs. Brock would be pretty intense. I'd like to see it. I think Sheamus vs. Rusev is more likely, though.

TNA is expected to have a TV deal in place shortly, likely leaving Spike for another network. They're in talks with several networks, so it looks like they could indeed have a U.S. TV home in 2015. I'm somewhat pleasantly surprised at that news. They keep on existing in spite of all the things expected to finish them off. It'll be very interesting to see how a new TV deal changes things, and if their momentum finally turns around.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

NXT's Tyler Breeze beat Vordell Walker in a dark match before Smackdown. Walker has worked for TNA and ROH, as well as another dark match a few months back. I wouldn't assume this was a tryout, though. It could have easily just been using a local guy to job to the NXT talent.

Cesaro was interviewed. I'm not sure if I'd rather him team back up with Swagger or if they should save him as a heel for a feud with Sami Zayn.

Kevin Steen is expected to debut at the next set of NXT TV tapings, likely under a new name. I'm ready!

Kendall Skye is saying she asked for her release from NXT, but WWE insists they cut her. I don't think it makes a huge difference either way.

The Undertaker and Paige are set for Austin Comic Con in early October. I'm sure there will be tons of people asking Taker's status for a WWE return. We're still a number of months from Mania season, so things could change either way before then.

Impact's audience Wednesday night was 0.97 million viewers. That's a pretty notable drop from the previous week. The show was a departure from the normal format of Impact, and that probably hurt things. TNA's really in a slump, and it doesn't look like that's going to turn around anytime soon. That new TV deal's going to be important.

Jake Roberts received a positive test result following a biopsy to his lungs. He still has to hear back about his brain. I hope he pulls through.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I think they should have Reigns back by Survivor Series if he's eligible. Hopefully Daniel Bryan's the one returning at the Rumble to challenge Brock at Mania. Reigns needs to be built more before he's at that level.

2. They want the faces visible on the "hard camera". I think it makes sense.

3. WWE's selective in remembering the past. They generally only do it when it suits their narrative. If they think the story they want to tell is more important than referencing events of months or years back, that's what they'll do.

4. I think Rusev feuding with Show would follow naturally from him feuding with Henry, but Show might be needed to replace Reigns higher up on the card. Rusev vs. Sheamus could be a solid replacement for now.

Nothing to add to 5. It's an ongoing process.

More wrestling tomorrow.
