Main Event Reax - 9/23/14, Reigns update, former WWE announcer to TNA?, TNA taping update, Hardy injury, WWE awards, Raw audience, and Questions on Rock vs. Lesnar, Vince running Creative, changing wrestlers' names, Cameron's wrestling ability, and WWE commentary

Main Event:
Fine enough little match to start the show, as far as telling the story of Slater Gator vs. Rose and The Bunny.

The post-match was good for keeping the story going.

I liked the Show/Henry segment, but I think it's going to lead to a Show vs. Henry feud. The focus of this angle needs to be on Rusev, not the people past 40. These two should be more in supporting roles.

Not a bad Divas' match. The booking of Paige and AJ has been kind of curious these past few months.

I'm kind of tired of Paige vs. AJ, as good as they are. At least it's not Brie vs. Nikki!

I liked the Usos interview. Little things like that make matches more important.

Funny Bo/Kofi stuff. Bo's a pretty good character, though I don't know if we've seen anything as good as some of his NXT work.

I liked the Kofi vs. Bo match, but I hope Bo doesn't fizzle out after the losses. He should be OK as far as staying on the main roster, but WWE has to keep interest in him.

I liked the ending to the show for the most part, though I figured Ambrose would more or less tear through Miz and Sandow and be done with it.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Roman Reigns went home to Florida Monday following his surgery. He's hoped to be back by November. It's a shame Reigns and Bryan are both injured.

Former WWE announcer Josh Mathews was at TNA headquarters Monday. He has a long-term connection with John "Big" Gaburick. I think he'd be a great pickup. TNA could use a younger face at the commentary table. They obviously have bigger issues than commentary, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't address this, too.

TNA has taped at least through mid-November for Impact Wrestling. Obviously they've got some time to announce new tapings before then, but they currently don't have any advertised dates other than Bound For Glory and the January UK tour.

Matt Hardy worked last week's Impact Wrestling tapings with a broken toe. He's a trooper. He's not currently under any kind of long-term deal, but has been working with TNA consistently since his return to team with Jeff.

WWE and the WWE Network earned a lot of awards for visual design. That's great!

Raw was at 3.88 million viewers this week, barely up from the previous week. For comparison, the NFL game got 13.27 million viewers. I hope if WWE freshens things up with new faces being featured, the audience will grow. Ambrose's return should have gotten a bigger pop than that.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. That's quite a long build for Reigns! I wonder if they'd do Lesnar vs. Reigns at the Rumble so Rock vs. Lesnar wouldn't have the title involved or something. Brock working through WM32 as champion would be quite the long reign without a payoff. But yes, I think they'd do whatever they could to set up Rock vs. Lesnar at WM31 if Rock could work then.

2. Vince does always have the final call for creative decisions, so in a way it does all come back to him.

3. My thoughts are that most fans don't already know the names coming in! And in a way it's like casting an actor for a new role (with a different name).

4. It's obvious Cameron wasn't hired for her fantastic wrestling ability. They're trying to turn her into a wrestler, but it's a long process. I'm not a huge fan of hers as a wrestler, but she plays her role well.

5. WWE commentary on the main shows has been pretty regularly terrible for quite some time now. It's painful to listen to.

More wrestling tomorrow.
