Son of Hall of Famer passes, Sunny addresses health rumor, TNA promotes new signing, more on AWF promoter passing, Interviews with BNB/Sheamus, Taker A-OK, NXT names at Raw, Lucha Underground update, Smackdown audience, 15 years of Smackdown, Raw guest, Smackdown main event, fan jumps rail following Raw, and Questions on MITB, WWE pay, midcard titles, and Cena passing Flair's record

Michael Moody, son of WWE Hall of Famer Paul Bearer, has passed away. He was only 34. That's incredibly unfortunate, and really rough on the remaining family. I hope they make it through this as OK as can be expected.

Update: WWE.com issued a statement. It's been a rough year for the wrestling world in a lot of ways.

WWE Hall of Famer Sunny shot down rumors of a stroke or seizure at a recent convention. Ideally we'd hear from someone trained to differentiate a stroke, seizure, etc. who was present.

TNA put out a press release on their new Indian signing. Sonjay Dutt was born in the U.S. to Indian parents, so their press release is kind of a half-truth. I wonder when we'll see him in a TNA ring, since they've taped several months of Impact Wrestling before his signing.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Former AWF promoter Paul Alperstein's cause of death is confirmed as a heart attack. He was in good spirits in the days beforehand, so this was something of a shock. I hope his family's coping well.

Bad News Barrett talked about the Attitude Era, Cena, and more. I definitely wouldn't count on seeing the Attitude Era as a philosophy for WWE anytime in the foreseeable future.

Michelle McCool addressed reports of her husband The Undertaker being in poor health. It's actually pretty cool to see Taker enjoying life outside of wrestling. If he does come back to work WM31, I hope it's a last worthy performance. WM32 should be when he goes into the Hall of Fame (in his home state of Texas). I'm sure WWE would love the money from more Taker Mania matches, but he can only do so much as he moves into his fifties. He's earned the right to hang up the boots if he sees fit.

Update: Taker's status was covered in The Independent. I'm really curious to see how many more Manias he'll work.

Adrian Neville, Tyler Breeze, and Sami Zayn were all present at Raw. I think a lot of fans are getting impatient to see more NXT call-ups and NXT-style action.

Sheamus talked about facing Cesaro, future WWE stars from NXT and more. He put over a number of names down in NXT, which is great. I'm ready for the revolution.

Lucha Underground will debut October 29. I'm split on whether to cover it, since it's only available on certain systems.

Smackdown dropped to 2.63 million viewers for the show before Night of Champions. That's a big dip from the previous week.

Smackdown will air a 15th anniversary special on October 10. That's a pretty big milestone! I wonder if Impact will reach that number.

Memphis announcer Lance Russell was backstage at Raw. That's pretty cool.

Goldust and Stardust defend the WWE Tag Team Championship against The Usos this week on Smackdown.

A fan jumped the railing after Raw as John Cena was high-fiving fans. WWE security immediately took him down and escorted him away. Cena high-fived the fan as he was being carried off. That's funny on one level, but the fan's behavior shouldn't be encouraged.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I'm fine with Rollins cashing in immediately after a champion's downed. It's the way it's always done, but it's also generally what heels do. I have no problems with the MITB concept as it now stands (though it's been watered down over the years).

2. The issue with the Network vs. PPVs is PPVs were a specific purchase for one night, so it was easier to divvy up the bonuses. With the Network, especially with subscriptions, it's not as easy to tell who drew the buyers in and, thus, who should get the bonuses. Talents are still paid more if they're booked a lot and in a lot of main events, but PPV bonuses are still being determined all these months later.

3. I do think it'd be good to mix up the MITB formula as far as some people announcing the cash-in ahead of time as honorable babyfaces or arrogant heels. I also think it's good to keep the "any time" element in play in case someone's suddenly injured in the ring and they need to do a title change RIGHT THAT MINUTE.

4. I do like the idea of using the U.S. and IC Titles to build future top guys, but them holding the titles can make it difficult for them to move up the card in a way. If Creative wants to use someone in the main event really soon and they have another title, often it can be difficult to get that title off them.

5. Honestly, I'm not hugely caught up in Cena beating Flair's (official) record of title reigns. I think Cena as champion at this point should be for a good reason and to pass the torch to someone else. If he passes Flair's reigns as part of a bigger plan, so be it, but I don't see much reason to give him more title reigns just to break the official record.

More wrestling tomorrow.
