Live event notes, Reigns update, More on 9/22/14 tease, Brain hospitalized, new TNA signing, and Questions on Brock vs. Rusev, Cena vs. Flair, Angle vs. Rusev, more NXT on the main roster, and not mentioning small towns

On a WWE live event Saturday, Sami Zayn beat Tyler Breeze. Also on the show, Big Show replaced Roman Reigns to beat Seth Rollins. That first sentence is part of the direction WWE needs to be taking. That second sentence is everything WWE should be getting away from. I guess they needed to send the crowd home "happy" with a face victory, though, so Show beats the talented and hardworking younger guy. Bleh.

Roman Reigns tweeted about his recovery. Apparently his hernia was pretty serious, and six weeks is the more likely recovery time than just four. Three months is the long guess. No Punk, no Reigns, and no Bryan might mean it's time for an Orton face turn. RVD and Jericho are gone, too, and I damn sure don't want to see Big Show as a top face.

WWE's tease for 9/22/14 is just about WWE 2K15. That's being billed as the next generation of the franchise. Exciting, but not as exciting as a changing of the guard of talent.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Bobby "The Brain" Heenan was hospitalized recently. His health has been a concern off-and-on these last few years. He's an all-time great, and I hope he can keep living comfortably for years to come.

In what could be his final act for the company, Kurt Angle announced a new signing to TNA. Veera worked for TNA's Ring Ka King project some years back. I hope he's worth his salt.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. It looks like we might be in for Brock having issues with The Authority. So Orton could be his next opponent. I don't see why they'd go with HHH or Kane instead, and Rollins is facing Ambrose, so that looks like a possibility. I'd be surprised to see Brock turn face and beat Rusev. It would seem like something of a waste of Rusev's undefeated run to lose to Brock. He's already unstoppable! I don't think Rusev beating Brock makes a lot of sense either, as he's not at that level yet. We'll see how it plays out.

2.
I'm sure there'd be some kind of nostalgia audience for it, but I don't think it'd be best for long-term business.

3. I think Angle vs. Rusev makes sense for WWE to do, but I think they should build up Angle's  return so it means something to the fans who aren't as familiar with him. He's been gone a while.

4. It would be cool to have a consistent segment at a consistent time to showcase WWE's underutilized and/or relatively unknown talent, but it could backfire for the fans who just want to see he big names. Hopefully that wouldn't be the case, and the NXT talent wouldn't be punished, but you never know with WWE.

5. That's another example of how controlled WWE's verbiage is these days. I can see their logic, and don't disagree with the rule, but there are more important things they need to be addressing.

More wrestling tomorrow.
