NXT Takeover preview

Read on for how I'd book tonight's NXT event.

I've generally been too busy to do these before PPVs, but I have some time before tonight's NXT show:

Enzo Amore vs. Sylvester LeFort is actually something of a wildcard, because I don't know why it was decided to make a hair vs. hair match in the first place. Generally those are saved for someone leaving or having a radical character change in mind. So, that should take precedent. But since I don't know what plans they have going forward, my suggestion would be a win for Enzo and Big Cass to give the rub to the entertaining undercard guy. This could be the genesis for LeFort and Louis to chase for the NXT Tag Team Titles to prove they aren't S-A-W-F-T.

I'd have Regal talk up Kenta in his debut in Flair's absence. This signing should be put over as a big deal and Kenta should state his intentions for wanting to be a top name and all that. Cue Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd interrupting Regal and Kenta. Kidd brings the point home that no matter how good Kenta was in Japan, Kidd's the top guy in NXT and Kenta should learn his place. Kidd and Gabriel tell Kenta to watch the main event if he wants to see how a real international superstar performs. Foreshadowing!

Charlotte disrespects Bayley in their match, but Bayley shows us what she's made of. Charlotte wins after her toughest challenge yet. I'd like to see Charlotte vs. Layla next given the previous interactions between Charlotte and Summer Rae.

The Ascension have gotten cocky from their long reign and run of squash matches. Sin Cara and Kalisto have fought their way to where they are now. That's a good story to tell. The luchadores are too quick and agile for their larger foes. New champs. It's time for The Ascension to go to the main roster after a rematch, and the goal of this teaming is to build up Kalisto by pairing him with the veteran. I'm fine with a main roster talent holding an NXT title given the story involved.

Mojo and Bull both need the experience of a longer match. I say Mojo gives it his all and puts up a fight, only to eventually be Bulldozed.

Tyson Kidd tries to use Justin Gabriel to run interference so he can win the title, but Kenta prevents it from happening. This leaves Kidd vulnerable for Neville to retain. Zayn should be getting prepared for the main roster, so he doesn't need the title. Unless they're going to have Neville come up alongside Bad News Barrett as a face, I think it's fine for him to continue to train in NXT.

More wrestling coming up.
