Wrestling content notes, Punk on FOX again, Impact name signs for several years, Impact specials coming, Impact title match set, Raw audience, Raw's new group named, Interviews with XFL co-owner/McIntyre, Lawler anniversary show set, and Questions on title match challengers, authority figures, HIAC in the PC, the C Show, and GFW content being saved

Jeff Hardy is being featured on "Best of WWE" this week on WWE Network.

WWE's Android and Roku apps were recently updated.

Booker T. discussed leaving WWE for Impact on his most recent podcast.

C.M. Punk joined FOX's Summerslam 1992 watch party along with Finn Balor, Booker T., and Finn Balor. So that was kind of a Backstage episode in a way.

WWE Timeline will debut on WWE Network Sunday. The debut episode will cover the Daniel Bryan/Miz rivalry.

Impact has signed Kimber Lee to a multiple year deal. I hope she can really put herself in the spotlight there.

Impact Emergence will be a two-week special on August 18 and August 25. Essentially this is like Fyter Fest or Great American Bash.

- The August 25 episode will feature Deonna Purrazzo vs. Jordynne Grace for the Knockouts Championship

Raw drew 1.72 million viewers this week, seeing a boost for Shane McMahon's appearance. They took some risks with that episode. We'll see if they bring back curious viewers next week.

AEW stars played Dungeons & Dragons on Twitch.

Raw's new faction is known as RETRIBUTION, in all capital letters. They've already killed the idea of this being a real "attack" with advertising a new faction ahead of time and giving them an official name this early. We'll see if they end up where the Smackdown attacker and Hade Vansen ended up.

The Rock's business partner discussed the XFL purchase. It's very uplifting to see him working with his former wife in such a capacity.

Drew McIntyre spoke to TVInsider to promote Summerslam:
- I admire his fire to become a key figure in WWE. I hope he doesn't get derailed in this feud.

- We have absolutely seen strong character development in the pandemic.

- Orton is firing on all cylinders, for sure.

Jerry Lawler will have a 50th wrestling anniversary show on September 26. The show will also feature Kane, Sgt. Slaughter, Lex Luger, The Rock 'n' Roll Express, Dr. Tom Prichard, "Wildfire" Tommy Rich, "Superstar" Bill Dundee, and more.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Frankly, grudge matches being title matches is more than OK with me. But for argument's sake:
1.a. Dolph obviously had no momentum, so this one was a pure grudge match.

1.b. Lashley was definitely being built up, having gained momentum when MVP joined him and he started using the full nelson.

1.c. Orton put Edge, Christian, and Big Show on the shelf. He's absolutely worthy.

1.d. Bray was Universal Champion before WrestleMania, and beat John Cena at that event. It's logical for him to challenge Braun.

2. Not a question, but, yes, that clarification is important. Having someone who makes matches and has people sign contracts makes a lot of sense. Having that person be a centerpiece of the show is going to be more divisive, since they don't often wrestle. For what it's worth, McMahon feuds were really popular in their time and WWE and USA often want to try to recreate that.

3. That's a good point! If they can't work around it, they'll just replace HIAC with some other PPV name/concept. Or I guess they could do it on the roof of Titan Tower or another cinematic match?

4. By far the youngest show of the three with the lowest audience, and one that's not likely to leave Full Sail even after COVID passes. By all means they are the C Show.

5. The master videos were taped over or are otherwise unavailable, but Impact did release the shows on DVD, so that's what they've been told to keep.

More wrestling tomorrow.
